Soon2BCPA127 deferred tax liability sounds much scarier than it is. Don't be intimidated…or lulled to sleep. : ) There are not that many ways those questions can be twisted. Thank goodness for that.

    Good luck.

@kaaCPA Great question! – I'm worried about the same thing myself as I used Becker's suggestion for timing for REG and ran out of time during the SIMS. I was thinking of 45 mins (maybe 50?) for each MCQ testlet, which will leave about an hour & 45 minutes for SIMS. YIKES! I can't wait for this section to be over. I knew it wouldn't be “easy” but after taking AUD & REG, I figured this material would be easier for me to learn than those sections. I have no experience with tax or auditing, and FAR is much closer to my job than those too, but no such luck!

    AUD - 89
    REG - 79
    FAR - 82
    BEC - 84

You will need at least an 1.5 for sims. I believe that I did 30 min per testlet and needed every second of the 1.5 to complete all the sims. GOOD LUCK FAR is a BEAST

    FAR 76
    REG 76(2x)
    BEC FAILED (2x)
    AUD FAILED (2x)

I saved 1.5 hours for the SIMS and needed every second of it. Thanks kb24 for the advice đŸ™‚

I allocated 50 minutes per testlet and I forced myself to guess on a couple just for time management.

How much time should one leave in order to complete the FAR sims? Is one hour ample time?

    Thanks!

I have never considered or really worried about time allocation as of yet for the CPA exam. I took BEC and AUD and never timed myself for MCQ in practice or SIMS in practice. I had over 1:45 left in AUD, and while I did finish BEC with little to spare. I just kind of figured I'd give 35 minutes for the writing. I am kind of glad I have done it this way, the last thing I need is to stress myself out with a potential scenario I don't have control over. No one knows how hard the MCQ questions are going to be. I am just going to hope for the best going into to FAR on Oct. 14

for final review, do you think its OK to skip the supplemental questions? i did them during my first run through, but i am getting so bogged down with MC questions its ridiculous. it is really hard to do 250 MC questions everyday for 9 days straight.

I did not leave enough time to do the supplemental questions when I was studying..and I passed…honestly, I dont think the mcqs on the exam were nearly as hard as the few supplemental questions I had done….I only scored a 79 on the test but I ran out of time on the sims and left one completely blank and one mostly blank…so I must have done pretty well on the mcq parts. I was a little worried afterwards b/c I didnt feel like any of the mcq sections got harder but I think it was because Becker really prepared me for them. I definitely would plan on leaving at least 1 1/2 hours for the sims…..try and get through the mcqs as quickly as possible. Good Luck–I was really worried about this test and managed to get through..you can do it!

Another general question – how do you know if you should be using the exact, bonus or goodwill method from L2 (Becker) when they ask about admitting a new partner with investment of additional capital. Any thoughts are appreciated!

I could be wrong, but I believe they will say that they record goodwill or it's assumed they do not. If they don't then allocate away!

Experienced test takers I need help. My FAR score was 67. What I am most perplexed about is in terms of multiple choice questions I was scored comparable in 3 areas, stronger in 1, and weaker in one. Then on the bottom my overall multiple choice performance was weaker. How is that possible?

The area I was scored weaker I felt like I knew like the back of my hand. Very troubled by this.

I've been studying a lot for FAR since Sept. 2nd. I feel confident in my knowledge of Becker material, but I can't help but feel the test is going to come down to luck. Luck if I am able to a lot of the curveball questions that are not included in the review software. Luck if I get questions that are easier in nature. Ughhh ,so much stress from this test!
