For those that did not pass:

I just found out I failed my FAR for the fifth time. I find it embarrassing and discouraging. However, I still have time to get in one more FAR attempt before any of my other exams expire. FAR is the last one I have to pass! After finding out I failed again I was at a loss as to how to even study. I used Becker for my first two tries (got in the 60s) and Yaeger/Wiley for my latest three attempts and have gotten a 71,74, and 70. I called Yaeger and spoke directly to Phil Yaeger and he was very encouraging and helpful. I urge any of you out there in my similar boat to do the same. He is there to help. Good luck to all of you.

    AUD - 82 Becker
    BEC - 75 Becker
    REG - 71, 82 Becker
    FAR - 66,61,71,74,70 and #6 80!!!! FINALLY DONE!!! 9/20/12
Yaeger and Yaeger CRAM for the final battle!

hilaryh_88, thanks for the kind words. I found out I failed FAR this morning and I wanted to cry. My coworkers let me have a 30 second pity party and then told me to get back on the horse. I really wanted a win in my column; but the saga continues.

    Happy studying!

    FAR 56, 77 (credit gone - THANKS BEC!), 73, 74, 79!!!!
    REG 65, 65, 75
    AUD 59, 64, 70, 70, 80

I just found out I failed Far for the third time. I have been using Becker and the Wiley test nank Cd. My scores on Far exam has been 54, 70 , and 68. I took Bec this year for the second time and I went from 73 to 70. I'm really dwvestated right now. I haven't passed a single exam. I have studied really hard and I dont know what could I have done different. I thought I was good in accounting, accounting was my major in undergrad and graduate but apparently not. At this point I need to put the books down because I feel ashame of myself and I dont know how to explain this. Just asking if anybody out there is in the same boat with me or is just me that can't pass a single exam. Im in tears and I feel like my dream to be a CPA is crushed. Congrats to all of u that have passed in this window.

Some of my friends have passed these 2 exams and I feel so embarased why I cant pass a single one. I cant study anymore, I feel so burned out. Please any sugestions , I really appreciate it.

    Megan_127,

Please don't be discouraged. Remember that you are not the only person who failed. I failed also and got a whopping 59. I'm wondering if I even took the exam since I scored so low. I thought about it and this is my 4th time failing FAR. I've take the exam twice when it was on paper back in 2001 and then in 2008 once it was computerized. And just recently on May 26.

Take a week off to clear you mind and figure out a new strategy. We'll pass the next time!

    FAR 56, 77 (credit gone - THANKS BEC!), 73, 74, 79!!!!
    REG 65, 65, 75
    AUD 59, 64, 70, 70, 80

@GirlAcct74. I know that number all too well. I got a 59 on REG back in February, I re-took in April so hopefully I scored higher than a 59. I studied for two months and got that score. I remember saying on this website my score and someone told me “I obviously didn't study, or studied while watching TV” It was a punch in the gut because I really did study my tail off. It sounds like you already have a clear head though which sounds awesome!!! I studied 4 more weeks after my fail in REG and I definitely walked in feeling much more confident!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

@Megan, I haven't passed a single exam either 🙁 I've taking 3 exams so far. You at least come close to passing, my scores were all far away from passing. Take a couple of days off to decompress. I've always felt like I've understood the material, I am just a terrible test taker so I have to work the extra mile. Unfortunately we'll just have to put in that much more effort. But it's a learning experience, and it WILL be worth it in the end. Give yourself a couple of days before you pick yourself back up. Allow yourself a tequila shot…or two. But in all honesty, your scores really are close, you're almost there. Come back with a vengeance! Do you mind letting us in on what your study techniques have been? Keep your head up Meg!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

    @Peanut and @Meagan,

I'm so sorry to hear that! Dont be discouraged! Inshaallah you guys will study hard and will pass the exams. Its obviously a very very difficult exam. I gave my self 6 months to study. I'm taking FAR in october, and started studying in May. I'm using Becker video lectures, text, and passmaster. I will buy wiley as well once i have finished becker.

I believe the key is repetition. Do the MC and other questions about 4-5 times. Thats what i'm planning to do and thats the reason i started way early. I'm planning to be done with all the lectures, passmaster, and text by end of July which will leave me 2.5 months to review. In that time, all i will do is wiley test bank and passmaster 4-5 times, review my notecards, and memorize differences between gaap vs ifrs.

Another thing thats been really helping me concetrate is Tetley Masala Chai. I'm not kidding. I'm not a tea or coffee person, but this masala chai really calms me down and helps me concentrate. you can find it at any Pakistani/Indian grocery store. 🙂 hope this helps! Good luck!

I was told today that during practice you should always be replicating what it is like in the actual performance. I think taking as many practice quizzes and exams as you can find is very helpful. For me, AUD and BEC, were somewhat easier because I am good at memorization. REG came along okay because I am quite involved with taxes in my work. FAR has been nearly impossible for me so far. However, I had to get away from Becker. In order to actually LEARN the principals, I went with Yaeger and am doing a lot of writing and re-writing of notes as Jeff has suggested. The more you see it, write it, and commit it to your mind, the better off you will be. Don't just stare at it over and over. It won't sink in. Good luck.

I know each of your stories all too well. Although I only have the monster left to pass (FARE), I struggled so much to get this far. Someone on this blog said repetition is key – yes, it sure is! I studied my butt off with Becker and passed all other sections but is seems like I've been hitting a wall on FARE. After failing 3 times, I switched to Yaeger. It has helped reinforce what I know and helps cover some of the areas I'm weaker in; it's common for me to get an “aha!” moment during my studies.

By the way, I first started studying in May of 2006 – that's not a typo. After failing each of the sections, I stopped and didn't try again until November 2009. I've surrounded myself with notes that are encouraging and motivating (at my bedside, on my bathroom mirror, on my fridge, in my car, behind my office door, as my screensaver, and last but not least, a small note glued to the bottom of my shoe with the statement “Passing the CPA exam is impossible” – that last one makes me feel like I'm superior to the exam). Call me crazy, but these things work.

    BEC: pass
    REG: pass
    AUD: pass
    FAR: pass

Don't get discouraged!! I know easier said than done. I take failures very hard and have failed two. I used Wiley for FAR and highly recommend it!! I had the book, test bank and focus notes! I used Becker on my other exams and my scores increased substantially with Wiley!! Wiley allows you to see where your weak points are easier than Becker. Plus Becker omits way too much information thinking it helps, but for me to pass I need as much detail and info as possible. I have to re-take Reg (thanks to Becker omitting property law……..thanks Becker <—-curse you) and I am strictly using Wiley for Reg and I feel confident that I will be OK. Keep trying!!! I can't tell you how many times this test has put me in a depression!

    FAR - Passed
    REG - Passed - 2 tries
    AUD - Passed - 2 tries
    BEC - Passed

no sleep, seriously sucked!) and the last 4 days I fit in another 40 hours!

    FAR - Passed
    REG - Passed - 2 tries
    AUD - Passed - 2 tries
    BEC - Passed

I'm trying to pass FAR first in order to get the biggest beast (and hardest so I've heard) out of the way- but so far I haven't passed it (twice). Any thoughts on whether I should try to take another one in order to boost my confidence?
