Thanks a lot @cheer222! I really appreciate the help!

Also, I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on how to improve my results on the BOND questions. I cannot seem to get a hang of them, even after doing the questions multiple times. This is probably my weakest section, and my exam is only 1 week away. Does anyone have any advice on how I can improve on these questions in such a short period?

    Thanks!!

    tigersingh….

I am just the opposite of you! I freaked out on the practice final exam last nite. I did horrible on the MCQ's but was doing very well on the simulations! The MCQ's seemed like they were talking Greek! The MCQ's I've worked for have been fine. I work them once and then go back through them a few days later and I'm getting 90%'s. I have the Becker Final Review tomorrow and I'm taking the exam on Oct 8. I plan on working progress tests all next week and doing another final exam practice on Friday before the big day. Any of you “veterans” think I'll be ok?

@twest, my exam is going to be October 7th, so I am in the same boat as you. I plan on doing lots of progress tests and one more practice exam probably monday or tuesday. I would suggest that you take your last practice exam maybe 2 days before your exam (thursday) instead of friday, so that you will have enough time to review any topics that you did not do well on. Either way, I am sure we will do fine! We gotta stay positive and continue to work our butts off for one more week! GL!

So my exam is tomorrow morning and I go from feeling somewhat ok (as ok as you can feel about FAR) to total panic mode. I was able to leave work early this afternoon, so I'm reviewing all my notes and doing some more SIMS, but seem to be on the verge of panicking again. Anyone else testing tomorrow? If so, what are your plans for tonight/tomorrow before the exam. I'm bringing notes w/me to review in the car before I go in.

@pattibelle – I always took my note cards with me in the car too. My advice is to calm down and just relax. Have a beer or glass of wine. Review a few of your weak points. By this time, you know 99% of what you'll remember tomorrow. Cramming today will only stress you out. You've got this!!

Hey guys! For those who feel concerned about their score on the practice exams, I scored high 60's/low 70's and was very concerned. The simulations seemed WAY easy on the practice exam, but the real exam they completely surprised me and I felt like I didn't fill ANY of them correctly. I thought I failed it miserably, but I got an 81! So just do your best, study weak areas, and try to remain calm! You never know what questions they will take off or how they will curve these dang things. You just might be in that 40-50% and pass!

My question for FAR… HOW THE HECK DO YOU REVIEW THIS???? I take the exam in 2 weeks, I feel like a lot of the MCQ confuse the crap out of me (especially Bonds and Liabilities) It is very disheartening and makes me think I am too stupid to do this. I would love some inspiration and to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. So far I am scoring high 60's, low 70's on the MCQ. Is that a bad sign if I still have two weeks left? I have been going through the book again, re-reading EACH chapter and writing down almost all the important key points (there are certainly a lot) I feel like I forgot EVERYTHING from when I went over it the first time. I feel hopeless and really need some inspiration right now! It's like every question I was SOOO CLOSE but I forgot that one little stupid detail.

ESPECIALLY tips on how to review this crap. How can you even REVIEW this much material with Becker? It feels impossible. I should be getting the final review software in the mail this week, and I have been doing flashcards too.

    @mind :

I think the best way to review all the topics though becker would be to keep doing “progress tests” which will take random questions from each chapter an put them together to create a mini test. This is good because you will encounter questions you may have forgotten. This way you can keep refreshing your memory. Taking a bunch of these up until your exam might help you retain the knowledge.

Can anyone take a guestimate on the % of theory to calculation %s on FAR?

I wish it was like BEC which seemed to be 3 theory to 1 calculation 🙂

I would guesstimate like 40% theory 60% calc.

not taking FAR yet, will do this window, but my REG exam was at least 70% calculation vs. 30% theory, i was running out of time when i had my REG…..

Compared to the practice questions in Becker, there were more theory questions than I expected today, but there are still a lot of calc questions.

    AUD - 89
    REG - 79
    FAR - 82
    BEC - 84

I just got out of my FAR exam and it was not at all what I expected. I had way more tricky theory questions then I thought I would have. I also had a lot of IFRS. I would say about 5-7 questions each testlet at the least if not more. Some of these IFRS were on things I have never heard of in my becker review book. I left over an hour and half for the sims and was running out of time. You def need to leave yourself a good amount of time because I felt so rushed.. I got work doown on them all but thats only because I saw the time and rushed to move along because I didn't want to stop working on the sims I knew until I knew for sure that I had the right answer. I really would have liked to have gone over everything again and double checked stuff.

I totally agree with Happen4Reason! Some of the questions were not covered in Becker or Yaeger… so, I know of a few I got wrong. A few I guessed on and got right. I had a chance to review all the MCQ questions and changed a few, however that only gave me 1 hour for the sims. I didn't complete one of the sims and there were a few that I know I missed some points on. The test kicked my ash! Seriously, not matter how smart you are, nothing will prepare you for the variety of questions!

Don't worry Happen & Cat. I'm pretty sure I got some of those IFRS questions wrong as well. The mean part about it is that they seem to reappear in other testlets…how annoying. Also for the simulations, I'm pretty sure I didn't do one of them entirely correctly since I couldn't get it to “work”…and I'm not sure I got either research question correct, but still got a 90. I did feel ok about the rest of the stuff though. There's hope! Don't worry!

Okay, so I am torturing myself by looking up questions to answers… and so far, I know of 5 that I missed (2 were right at first, but then I second guessed myself) and those don't include the IFRS questions I know I missed. Those were ridiculous! Way too many to count. So, I am not confident at all that I passed. I know I missed too many… the waiting is going to kill me!
