Does anyone know if you purchased the now and then program from Wiley, do you get the updated test bank for 2011? I purchased it in 2010 and took audit and bec in 2010. Now that its 2011, I got my REG and FAR books for 2011 and lectures but no addl testbank software. With REG I didnt really care but I am flying all the way from Germany to take the test and dont want to chance it….. Also does anyone have any reccomendations for supplemental material to purchase that really helped reinforce everything in FAR?

Uuuggghh FAR round 5 starts Monday.

Here is my score breakdown. I didn't have any weaker sections except simulations. Comparable on FS accounts, specific transactions, and NFP. Stronger on Framework and Standards, Governmental, and Multiple Choice. Only weaker on simulations.

I've been using Becker, but it has expired now and I can't afford/don't want to buy it again. I'm planning on buying Yaeger. Should I just get the CRAM or get a full on home study course? I still have my Becker book and flashcards to supplement with, but I think I'm going to spring for the full course. Any advice? I lose Audit and REG if I fail this time.

I just took FAR 8/31, so it's still pretty fresh in my head, which makes the CRAM course appealing. I'm planning now to take it at the end of October.

    Thanks!

My approach consisted of the following: Listen to the lectures (reading text is much too time-consuming and tedious), type up everything that was cited as being important by the instructors, organize the information in your head via mnemonic devices (Becker or otherwise), examples that illustrate an important topic, concept, etc., and devote almost exclusively your time to all Becker PassMaster MC (learn from your mistakes; analyze why a question was right/wrong; have it make sense to you) and SIMS (except for Governmental and NFP; MC should be sufficient for those topics). Do not concern yourself with the supplemental questions as they have a tendency to scatterbrain you in my opinion.

Thanks unDer. I am pretty discouraged from my diagnostic report, but obviously what I was doing wasn't working. I know which simulations did me in, I just didn't think it would be what would fail me!

    Nooooooooooooooooooo!

Mama Megan, I am so sorry!!! You got a 74? That is every candidate's worst nightmare. Especially your last one. I'm sick for you. So wrong!!!

My advice would be to get the Yaeger Cram. The Homestudy is around 45 hours if I remember correctly. That's too long and the Cram should sum it up for you. I didn't use the Cram but from what I understand it is really great for people so close such as yourself. You do still have it fresh and you were so close. Do as many Wiley problems as you can because you probably have the Becker ones etched in memory. Do the minimum required Wiley questions they recommend.

I can e-mail you some of my notes. FAR was my Beast too. If I passed it, you can too.

This news has made me mad at the AICPA just when I was getting over all my bitterness…

Thanks Allyson. I think you've changed my mind to CRAM. I know exactly which simulations did me in, and what I was weak on, and I need someone besides Peter and Tim explaining it to me because they've tried 4 times, and I just check out while they're reading to me. I am feeling hopeful! I will send you my email addy in a DM.

Luis – I appreciate the offer, but I think I need something besides Becker. I will still use my flashcards and book to supplement, but since I've been through it 4 times before, I think I may need something new. Thanks anyway!

Ok guys maybe you all would know. I found out that I have to retake FAR. It is my last one and Audit expires Oct. 12. There is only one testing center in all of New Orleans and there is no availability until Oct. 15. Do you think calling prometric and begging for a seat would work?

@Orleans – Unlikely, but might be worth a try. Why do you have to take the test in New Orleans? Just drive a couple hours to another center. Its a lot better than having a test expire. lol.

Have you looked beyond New Orleans? I had to take one in a different city (2 hours away) once.

You might think I am crazy or supersticious but it's ok with me. I am actually living in Miami now and am actually flying in from Miami to specifically take this test in New Orleans. I took the first three tests in New Orleans before moving here and passed with no problem. I have taken FAR now in Florida 3 times with no success. So I feel like maybe the test is easier in New Orleans.

Hey guys so this is my last week before the exam I feel confident, but I don't know if thats because I did the becker questions a million times. What would you guys suggest I do for this last week.

I'm retaking FAR and AUD in the next window after missing both by only a few points. Do you think it is okay to take AUD before FAR? I've heard that I should take FAR first, but I feel like I need to start out with the easier subject to get going. Anyone else in this situation?
