I took BEC yesterday and it was not the exam I expected, at all.

My exam never got harder. My questions were mostly theory, not calculations (further evidence that I never really saw the exam getting harder).

I spent my last 48 hours of studying really nailing down the formulas for all of the key calculations, and then didn't really need them. So that was a bummer.

My writing questions were not bad at all, hoping to get close to full credit on those and maybe pull off a win.

Luck to future BEC'ers. I hope I'm not joining you for the next window.

    @dorky

So glad you posted your experience. So far I had heard of so many ppl comment on how there test got harder and they had tons of calculations. My experience was the same as yours. Tons of theoretical questions so I couldn't really tell if it was getting harder or not.

    ILLINOIS CANDIDATE
    FAR - Passed
    BEC - Passed

@aldog—you assume correct about the name ;). Not sure how some can put up with this exam without it!

Actually just took the exam last friday, sounds like you are on a good pace. If you can get to a point where you have about a week or two to really review and practice questions I think you will be well prepared. Didn't feel too great about my exam, of the 3 so far I'd say Becker does a better job with FAR and AUD—so I'd suggest knowing your becker materials pretty well before you sit for the exam. Good luck to you.

I took BEC last Friday for the first time and I found the exam to be easy which is weird, especially after reading everyone's post on how they found the exam to be hard. I use Becker and found that I everything I studied from Becker was on the exam. There was 2 questions on the exam I found myself saying”ugg I should studied this more” I found the writing section to be ok as well, I don't think I answered correctly but I made sure my writing made sense and address the question to my best ability. Anyways, this whole thing is frustrating. Crossing my fingers.

Don't be too confident SnotRod. My friend who thought he nailed BEC came out with a 63. The exams are made to be tricky, especially with BEC. Since there are calculations involved, we all know that if you do it the wrong way, you may see you answer in the choices…but it's not the right way, or right answer. I tried to take all 4 exams last window and came close, but only batted 25%. BEC, which I thought to be the easiest exam, is the one I am having the most trouble with for some reason. I definetly know my material, especially all the calculations and formulas. I think I have struggled with the conceptual questions iin the past, and probably should have prepared a little more for the Corp Goverance part of the BEC exam. Now I wait and see if I have one more to finish. I sure hope so! I have a baby comiing in May!!!

    BEC - 71, 74, 77 (Feb - 2011)
    FAR - 73, 78 (Feb - 2011)
    REG - 83 (Nov 2010)
    AUD - 71, 84 (May 2011) - Done!! CPA licensed in TX (July 2011)

    “Snotrod” now that is funny!

Maybe watching Penelope skits on HULU from SNL is where s/he should be commenting… There is nothing easy about BEC even if you pass., it if for nothing else the time limitations, the three hours of uninterrupted testing, using a calculator on a computer screen (( eekk) fashioning a fake tape and a hard to use decimal point and not going to the bathroom for three hours.

If it was easy for young snot rod s/he ( have my money on a he ) shouldn't be in a forum title another 71 , if nothing else.

Not sure of snot-rod's gender, but “snot-rod's mommy”, who posted an opinion on the exam, is presumably a “she.”

To sum up her post– it seemed easier than expected, which is worrisome to her.

I had a similar experience and feel the same way. It didn't seem as hard as I thought it would be, which makes me nervous that I might have totally blown it.
