Are you using Becker? I thought I understood the concepts after watching the videos and reading the book, and ooops, I was wrong. Work the problems out, you'll be able to connect the concepts together. Expect “aha” moments, I get a lot of them wrong on my first try, a lot.

I print the questions out and compare them to similar problems, it helps that the figures are the same. Spend time analyzing the MCQs, solve it “your way” and they'll stick. This is my first section so I made the mistake of relying too much on the videos and re-reading the book. Yes, its really the questions that will make you learn. Solving them over and over again will sharpen your skills. The challenge is having the patience and stamina after a full day at work. Most of the time I force myself to do the MCQs. But I'll admit it gets to my nerves too.

@sdgh1826….thanks. I have decided to just push through the videos (which are done) and then do the multiple choice. I have found on some of the problems and formulas if i use a dry-erase board it seems to help to just write them down multiple times (then I don't have to waste paper). I have the rest of chapter 3 to complete, Chapter 5 questions and Chapter 6 questions. I hope to be done by Sunday. Have you used the NINJA Notes or do you make flashcards or notes in a notebook? Also you say you find it hard as well study after a full day of work. I have heard from other people .. but what is the structure of your studying? I try to do an hour in morning and two at night. Any feedback is appreciated!

BEC - TOO MANY FAILS TO LIST! July 2015 I WILL GET IT!
AUD - AUG 2015- NEVER PASSED!
    FAR - LOST CREDIT
    REG - PASSED

I study 2 – 3 hours on weekdays, after dinner and doing all my chores. It’s off to the café right after, I should be there by 8 PM until 11 (closing), just couldn’t study at home. Then around 30 min. of review during my lunch break the next day, just to freshen up last night’s session. On weekends splitting study sessions seem to work effectively, 3 hours in the morning, and another 3 in the afternoon. At first, I wanted to add another 2 hour session in the evening; but it was unrealistic. I wouldn’t have enough energy for my Sunday, pace yourself.

My strategy is to watch the videos once and do all the writing that Becker tells me, add more to your notes if needed. I then read the book and make notes/outline of the whole module (if necessary). Tedious but effective for me, I get to see the main topics without the $h**Y text. Then work the freaky MCQs, after seeing the right answer, I go back to the text and realize “oh, that’s what the book meant”. I then try to solve them again, my way. I refer to the NINJA notes when there’s downtime at work. Don’t have the audio nor the Wiley TB, but planning to get them real soon. Everything is out of pocket. I hope to study for this section once, so I’m going all in here. Just wondering if anyone used a similar strategy. BEC is so unpredictable, I feel like they’ll test me on everything I don’t know.

If I could no longer absorb the material after forcing myself, I stop. There isn’t any point in pretending to study. We’ll all have days where we just pass out ‘coz were dead tired or have unexpected events, that’s fine. I'm hoping the second half of BEC to be lighter. Just curious on your study strategy, how do you get in 8 hours in one day? Which review are you using?

Well .,. yesterday I didn't seem to get much past 5 hours. I ended up giving in and watching football with my fiance. Trying to balance studying and life. Saturday's 8 hours … I did all my need-to-do adult stuff first thing in the AM so I had the rest of the day. I did three hours then a break then two hours then break then two then dinner then another hour. I used to be really good at focusing, but things have changed so now trying to get it to work again. I am using Becker as well. Tonight I am focusing on the 2nd section of chapter 3, but I am already feeling discouraged just knowing there are a lot of equations, but like everything else I can do it! I am determined to pass this time … there is no more failing I know it 🙂 Good luck in your studies tonight! Hope you do great! Off to get my cup of coffee and get started.

I could use some advice from someone who is working full time. What is your study schedule? Do you study mostly on the weekends? And how long should I give myself until the next test. My next one is BEC.

@CPAinKC … what study program are you using? I work full-time and as you can see above I do mostly 2-3 hours a day Monday-Friday. Saturday and Sunday I TRY 8 hrs each, but it doesn't always work. I work from 8-5 and don't always have the opportunity to take a lunch with travel and just the amount of work that needs to get done if I want to leave at 5. Did you try the NINJA study planner?

I'm using Becker which got me through FAR. I don't know what went wrong with REG because I thought I knew it. Now I just don't want to underestimate BEC. Thanks for the idea of the study planner!
