Yeah, I am doing gleim sims now, keep screwing it up by entering negative # instead of positive and vice versa.

@jpowell I see. Well hopefully you'll pass and have a reason to celebrate, NYC is the best place for that.

Another question, for those of you that are re-taking the exam, How complicated were the questions in the governmental & non for profit accounting? what about IFRS?

I am just trying to figure out what I should concentrate on for my last day of studying. Any recommendations? at this point i feel like I suck at all the topics (except maybe pensions and bonds) so trying to figure out strategically where to concentrate.

    Thanks in advance.

@zcpa32 – they arent free, they are part of ninja program and wiley program. Ninja isn't too expensive though and may be worth taking before your exam. also i think websites like cpaexamforfree or even the aicpa website have free practice exams

for dilutive EPS – for contracts that can be settled in cash or stock it says it's their choice but to assume it's settled in stock (i.e. include these in the calculation for shares outstanding)……anyone seen an example of this? include it or no? or will it state specifically that they'll elect to settle in stock.

    #599795

@jpowell – it'll say “convertible” or somethign like that to give you a hint that they can convert to stock

you never know what's going to come up…that's the annoying thing about these exams. from MY experience…you NEED to know both IFRS(!) and govt/NFP…but having taken AUD 3 times i didn't get an exam that looked like the other so… not sure what to tell you.

i'm feeling like i have a lot more weaker areas than strong at this point as well….

FYI…. i have 2006-2014, minus 2011 AICPA questions if anyone wants them. However, I think all the ones up to this year have been incorporated into most of the software we all use, except for 2014. Becker just released an update last week which added newer questions so maybe 2014 is included in those as well now.

i feel like i've had a stroke. i was better off last week….. :(. i just don't know whether to focus on weak areas or just keep doing progress tests and reviewing notes to keep the whole picture fresh. at this point i'm adding to my weak areas it seems!

@DC – for your leases question before, i think i need to correct myself after oging over my notes:

    for a sales-leaseback gain/loss:

major = if pv of lease payments > 90% fv of asset – defer all and amortize

middle= if pv of lease payments 10-90% of fv of asset – defer up to pv of min lease payments, recognize excess now

minor= if pv of lease payments < 10% of fv of asset, OR lease life <10% asset life = recognize all now

so the lease life is only used in the minor rule. not the others

effective interest method amortization of discount/premium:

gaap: amortize over contractual life of bond

ifrs: amortize over expected life of bond
