titoav15ParticipantHey guys! I have been out for a few months due to family issues, but now am ready to kiss some FAR butt 🙂 i am just about to wrap up the 4th section. As I found out the second and 3 sections were a bit of a drag because I don't like Tim's style in Becker… Someone on here put it very well once… Tim's theory is highlight the whole book. After taking courses with Pete, it is very hard to switch back to Tim. Also… As I learned from BEC, it is not necessary to follow the sections in order, is anyone doing there sections out of order, and if are, whats the order?

jpowell31Participanti keep seeing MCQ that feels like like i haven't seen before so i need to keep doing some as i clean up notes and a progress test here and there to maintain a bit of confidence in myself. i'm just finishing up chap 6 – having tidied up notes and redone marked questions. definitely going to get through chap 7 so may do chap 10 after and leave 8&9 for tomorrow since their both govt and NFP. by end of tomorrow i'll have “cheat sheets” handwritten of 6 pages and about 30 pages typed notes. i also have tear outs from the book as well since i haven't studied the formats of certain statements enough i think.
i'm traveling on wed so will do MCQ up until my flight at arund 2pm and ditch the computer reviewing just notes the rest of the afternoon and a bit on thursday morning. exam's not until 4:30PM so i guess i'll decide whether or not to try and go early or if i want to cram, nap, coffee.
i don't feel as good about going into this one as i did going to the other ones when i passed. i understood every question in my software although there's always curveballs and mistakes. i just don't have that this time. there's more info though so i'm trying not to be too hard on myself and i don't need an 80s score, just a 75! i slept like sh!t last night & woke up with a really tight sore throat today too….just what i need!

HopefulCPA0601Member@jpowell – feel better! buy some vitamins and gatorade!! I am on the same schedule as you for chapters which makes me feel better (going through this together as corny as that sounds). Im going to finish going through the book examples/my notes for everything up to chapter 7 today, and like you said i may do chapter 10 just since its a mix of random yet i think sort of easy stuff. Then govt and nonprofit tomorrow and definitely ditching the computer wednesday to give my eyeballs a break and to also just review notes.
My exam is at 12:30 on thursday, so i'll probably study until about 9/10pm wednesday and then watch tv to just relax my brain. Then reread my cheat sheets/notes before the exam and pray for a miracle. I dont feel fully confident for this exam but at the same time I keep telling myself that with the amount of stuff they are throwing at us its already impressive to be able to comprehend over half of this book. that has to count for something right.

jpowell31Participantof course it counts for something. to us. not to the examiners. or to the people i have to tell i failed after taking a week off of work, and have to retake it along with AUD, and that i may just give up completely after because i don't even care anymore. at all. it's thunderstorming where i am and it's 100% chance of t-storms in NY the day i travel. it's like a bad omen. there's something telling me this isn't what i'm meant to be doing!! lol
ok but yes…same track definitely. let's do this!
at least you're done with plenty of time to celebrate your birthday after the draining exam. i have a lot of people waiting to celebrate mine that just past (and also celebrate the buying of a house and passing my exam at the same time). why do i feel like that's too much positive things at once? i'm never that blessed which is what worries me….

HopefulCPA0601Member@jpowell – ive taken 2 practice exams. Ninja i got a 90% and wiley i got a 60% but half of my sims were marked wrong because of order of journal entries so idk how to realy assess the wiley score.
also i know what you mean about giving up, i already retook bec because of far and if i dont pass i have to retake reg. so looks like we have no choice but to pass. im takign it in ny too! in nyc lol
and last night my roommate told me all things come in three's, so i interpret that as:
for you – pass this exam, pass whole cpa exam, new house
for me – pass this exam, pass whole exam, 25 years old quarter life milestone met/start living

jpowell31Participanti'm not giving up now. but if i fail i honestly don't know if i can keep doing this. i started 2 years ago..i mean i took breaks so it's not been nonstop but…this is the best time of my lifffffe and i'm locked in a room ignoring people i care about and gaining weight and being a debbie downer. i say i like my job – and i do for working in an office the people are great, great benefits, opportunities…and after reading this forum apparently pretty great pay…but can i see myself doing it forever? no. CPA would've just broadened my horizons but i don't even necessarily want to do anything with it….other people on here who've done exams SEVERAL times each really want it….i don't think i care that much unfortunately. i'm just used to taking the next step in a natural progression and this was it…..when you're this close/far you start questioning how it is you really want to live life you KNOW?! LET'S GET DEEP GUYS. or focus on Cashflows.

HopefulCPA0601Memberhahaha seriously i think we are the same person, just living in 2 separate places. im doing this because in a way i cant allow 1 test to tell me i cant get my license or get to the next step in my career, because when it comes to work i know what im doing. but at the same time i dont know if i want to work in accounting later, but i dont want to be prevented from it because of ONE TEST. and i want to enjoy time with my loved ones and friends and not be locked in a room inhaling coffee and journal entries. so we better freaking pass. ive been doing this for 3 years now and 2 months and well im ready to see that finish line because my twenties are going to go by and i dont want to look back and only remember me hitting my head against my books and crying and eating ice cream like the bridget jones diary scene where “all by myself” is blaring as shes self loathing. — aka my life for the past 3 years.
