D CMemberin past two days, i have taken 2 practice tests… i learned that I need to do a better job of reading the questions. I think with the pressure to complete MCQs to leave enough time for SIMs is forcing me to move quickly, which is good. But when I review the tests its not so much that I don't know the topics or how to solve them but I didn't focus enough on exactly what they are stating in the facts or asking about. They are making the different of 3-4 questions per section.
I have also learned that even though I get stuck on a few MCQs in each section I'm still managing to finish the three MCQ testlests with at least 1 hour left for SIMs. Gonna work on getting this up to 1 hr 15 mins at least for SIMs.
I have done one becker which was killer and one ninja which wasn't as bad but I missed easy points cause of not focusing on the questions.
today just going for around 150-200 MCQs and review….then another practice test tomorrow am…

jpowell31Participantlooking back i wish i was more prepared for the last exam – it was very fair and relatively simple considering.. and i was only 11 points off and barely got through 2/3 the material. this time around i'm wondering how i even pulled that off and am pretty sure i'll get a monster exam and there will be tears.
crushing bonds, leases and pensions today.

D CMember@jpowell… yeah I feel yah.. I was off by 3 points.. and the test i got that day at least in my mind was “much easier” than expected. I was actually really confident coming out of the exam…. I did score strong on all sections except one and sims…
but yea I pray for the same/similar exam as last time… I know I can do it this time…lol

HopefulCPA0601Member@dc – im going to go back and review all the questions i got wrong. I left myself 1:45 for the sims and got stuck on two and was just spinning my wheels. I want to spend about 45 minutes per booklet so that I have time for simulations, but you are right if i just fly through Im going to miss some points just by skipping through important information in a question.
In my opinion, i thought the ninja practice exam is way easier than wiley. I'm going to review what i got wrong, go through my notes on key topics im still stuck on, do aicpa released questions and then go over a few extra multiple choice questions tonight. Doing the becker final exam tomorrow.

jpowell31Participanti could definitely nail the exam i got. but that would be luck in my favor….not something i've had much of on these exams!! even looking at about 1/4 of the becker sims which are normally easier i'm like — please don't let this happen to me.
my luck will be an east coast hurricane next week. i think if that were to happen this time i'd reschedule for end of Aug instead of pleading with them. i could use another couple weeks i think 🙁

jpowell31Participanti wonder how much of a correlation there is with CPA exam canditate numbers or fails with the number of people looking for/new to taking anti-anxiety meds!

HopefulCPA0601MemberWhich of the following is true about biological assets under IFRS?
A Biological assets are only found in Biotech companies.
B Biological assets must be valued at cost.
C Biological assets are living animals or plants and must be disclosed as a separate item on the balance sheet.
D Biological assets do not generally have future economic benefits.
Is this serious? This is a stupid question in my opinion and should not be on the exam! (angry face)

HopefulCPA0601MemberMiro Co. began business on January, 2, year 2. Miro used the double-declining balance method of depreciation for financial statement purposes for its building, and the straight-line method for income taxes. On January 16, year 4, Miro elected to switch to the straight-line method for both financial statement and tax purposes. The building cost $240,000 in year 2, which has an estimated useful life of 16 years and no salvage value. Data related to the building is as follows:
Year…….Double-declining……..Straight line
Year 2…..$30,000………………..$15,000
Year 3….. 26,250…………………15,000
Miro’s tax rate is 40%. Which of the following statements is correct?
A There should be no reduction in Miro’s deferred tax liabilities or deferred tax assets in year 4.
B Miro’s deferred tax liability should be reduced by $1,875 in year 4.
C Miro’s deferred tax asset should be reduced by $10,500 in year 4.
D Miro’s deferred tax asset should be decreased by $750 in year 4. (correct answer)
>> i don't understand how they get answer D. How do you get $750?

CPA50ParticipantI'm spending a fortune on Bach Flower Remedies for anxiety. It's homeopathic, but not cheap!
Just scored 85% until I hit…BONDS! Bonds will be the death of me. Anyone have general bond info/help/resource that's easy and maybe illustrative and color-coded ;)??

CPA50ParticipantSo sad, I don't even really know what my biggest problem is with bonds. I just got a bond retirement question wrong because I couldn't remember how how to calculate it.
(Face + premium – costs) – purchase price of buyback = gain
For some reason it isn't sticking. Maybe if I do 100 bond MCQ it will sink in somewhere.

HopefulCPA0601Memberi actually didnt do as bad on sims as wiley first told me i did. just because i put 0's in journal entries instead of NV it marked it all wrong. i realy REALLY REALLY hope the real exam has some sort of better way to test our answer.
@jpowell – im feeling the same, panic has set in and as we get closer to exam day i feel like im suddenly have amnesia
