I recently completed my undergraduate degree and have signed up for the all four Becker live study sessions, beginning with Financial on the 10th of July. My materials should be arriving by the end of this week and I was wondering if I should do anything in preparation for the course prior to it actually starting. Any advice is much appreciated!

@fnj_84,@CPA628@Revenue- Thanks folks ! i just printed all the updates ( thankfully there dont seem to be too many !!! ) also i notice most of the updates are in the form of correction of errors , not many subject matter concept based updates 🙂 please let me know incase i am wrong.

Also i am having soooo much trouble with bonds and leases – the concepts just dont seem to stick or are not clear ( i am using becker ) any suggestions/ advice ?!!

What is the effective portion and ineffective portion of a hedge?

My understanding of an effective and ineffective portion of a hedge, when you purchase a product you hedging with one known factor (price) and one unknown factor (spot rate). You are hoping that both known and unknown factors will match in the future. If they do not match you would have an effective and ineffective portion. It will be a loss or gain, if is a loss goes to income statement and if it is a gain will goes to other comprehensive income.

Please, I need clarification
