Hi, I'm new to the forum and apologize if the following question has already been answered (as I saw above). I'm using the Becker CPA exam review and was wondering if it helps to complement them with the Wiley 2012 test bank, and how you did by using Becker+Wiley test bank. I'm contemplating buying the Wiley test bank and would appreciate input. Did it help you to pass? Thanks!

Has anyone out there had any luck with Yaeger? I am gearing up for FAR try #4 with 3 very unsuccessful attempts at passing this thing. I feel like the Yaeger videos are really good, but I'm just not getting there with my scores. My last attempt at FAR I was hammered with questions about foreign currency all throughout the multiple choice…very out there to me! Hopefully 4th time is a charm! I won't give up on this!

@davce999, I heard that it could be a little difficult to study for the 2012 FAR with 2011 material. However, if you get updates on the material, it is likely ok. I know it can be frustrating because I have 2012 materials, and then I saw my cpa review course just released 2013 materials!

I also just found the print function in Becker. You have to actually be in the homework and have answered the question. Once you answer the question you can use the print icon at the top of the page. This has helped me alot with the concepts for the missed questions.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello everyone,

I am beginning to study for FAR, which I failed twice. The last time I took it was in 2009. I have the following study material:

    –Becker FAR book 2009 edition

    –2011 Ninja Notes

–2011 Wiley CD–combines multiple choice and sims.

Can anyone please tell me if and what additional material I need to study for the 2012 FAR exam?

I have poured enough money on the materials and would like to avoid paying more as much as I can.

    Please, help!!!!

    Thanks

    Hi there,

I used the combination of Becker and Wiley CD for REG and AUD. Wiley has a lot of multiple choice and the questions and testlets are structured very much like in the real exam. It worked for me in REG and I feel I was more prepared this time around with AUD too.

I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on this.

I've just begun studying for my first section, FAR, with Becker. At the present, I'm watching each page video first, then writing notes and pretty much rewriting portions of the outline from the book to my notebook; doing the same process for each video/page.

My concern is I'm spending around 5 to upwards of 10 minutes writing notes for each page before moving on to the next.

I was wondering if this is even a successful study strategy or should I not even bother with detailed notes?

Do what works for you. What works for someone else may not work for you. Jeff recommends watching ALL the lectures and taking intensive notes before starting to do any MCQs. However, that doesn't work for me. I have to do it by section; watch a lecture on that section, read that section, and do its MCQs. I do that for each chapter then go back and do it again (minus watching the lectures). I take notes on tricky topics and MCQs that I got wrong.

@when-will-it-end, I appreciate the feedback. I'm about 80% sure that I'll get the Wiley test bank. It's expensive but I don't want to be penny wise, pound foolish. Good luck on AUD, I'm bracing myself for FAR in early July! What does everyone think about rescheduling exams? Bite the bullet and take it or reschedule?

@livetorise, I haven't taken any sections yet for the CPA exam so I hope this will be useful since I'm using Becker and studying the same materials (so I understand the time consumption). I watch the lecture for each subtopic, create my flashcards/notes while reviewing the subtopic after the lecture, then do the MCQs for that part. I redo the MCQs I got wrong, which includes adding info to my flashcards/notes. It's helped my retention but is time consuming. I'm spending more time but if it helps pass the CPA exam, it'll save time in the long run. 🙂
