gabrowninParticipantI just failed FAR by 61. I want to purchase the Ninja notes and the Wiley Testbank, however are these printable like the notes in Becker? I like to print out the material and write notes on it myself. Anyone know if you can print the questions/notes out?
Thanks

AnonymousInactiveFAR is a beast (actually all sections can be…). Keep your head up and we'll all pass these exams. I used Wiley testbank for REG and found them very useful. I have them for FAR as well, and I'm not sure I'll have enough time to do all its MCQs, but it's a great tool to practice more MCQs…especially for heavily tested area such as pensions, bonds, leases, NFP, Gov't acctg.
Good Luck to all of us! We just have to keep working hard!

AnonymousInactiveHelp! I am one week from taking FAR. Thus far on my 2nd review of the MCQs for Becker I am hovering around 72%. This is nowhere near what I was scoring a week out from my BEC exam. I am having problems with basic retention on subjects I reviewed 3 to 4 weeks back and regret only having scheduled 2 weeks for re-review. I will have all day Thursday through Memorial Day to study for my test on Tuesday. Any sage words of advice? I have not spent too much time on the simulations and wondering if this might be more fruitful than doing more MCQs. Thanks and good luck to everyone testing at the end of this window! This test is a beast…Also curious what in general people have heard is a decent % for Becker MCQs.

AnonymousInactiveFirst time going through Becker, I was scoring around 60%. Now, I'm in review stage and re-reading each chapter and doing its MCQs again…I'm scoring above 85%-95%.
I'd say scoring above 80% on Becker progress test is ideal. FAR is Becker's stronger section, so I would keep working those MCQs. People say SIMS on real exam are much harder than SIMs in Becker and thus don't bother doing them, however, I still do those at least 2x. I tend to pick up little details on them that I otherwise wouldn't pick up.
You've still got a week, you can do it!!

Soon2BCPA127MemberHi Everyone,
I took all four parts of the CPA Exams while working full-time and having a commute of an hr each way. I failed all parts miserably :(. I'm trying to restart the studying sessions continuing on using Becker books/lectures. I'm beginning with FAR this time and i was looking for any sort of advice how to approach the studying part the 2nd time through. I keep getting confused on what to do first and coming up with an effective studying plan. Should re watch all the lectures again? Or Read all the chapters.. i'm very bad at reading continuously for hours.
Good luck to all of you that are taking FAR exam! I'd really appreciate any studying approach advice!
Thank you!

rendittMemberFAR has more concepts than BEC, so I spent more time in actually understanding the concepts rather than just doing lots of MCs. Once you understand the concepts, you will do well on the MCs. In the days before the test I scored 80-90% on the progress test. What I recommend doing is printing out the MCs you got wrong and keep going through those until you know them.
I took the exam last week and didn't find the SIMs any different than the ones in Becker. So certainly worth doing and there are not that many in the Becker material to begin with. I actually didn't use the 2 final exams in the Becker material at all for studying other than the SIMs.
BEC - 2/25/12 - 90
FAR - 5/18/12 - 87
AUD - 8/4/12 - 94
REG - 11/27/12 - 91 - done!May 23, 2012 at 3:02 pm #376068
Soon2BCPA127Member@renditt – so you're suggesting to read the chapters first and then do the MCQs? I have Becker should i continue with Becker? Or should i buy Ninja notes like how everyone's suggesting? will i understand ninja notes knowing i've been following becker material?

lynseykllyMember@ChrisinLA – I think you will be fine. When I did the Becker practice exams, my average the first time was in the 50's, second time in the 60's (think I gained about 11 pts). MCQ's I was trying to get 100% complete, but wasn't able to do that, kept missing the same ones over and over. It's so much info, when I started my review I realized just how much ground I had to cover again. I felt like there was no way I could be prepared for FAR going in. In the exam I found the MC to be much easier than Becker, so that will work in your favor. I thought the actual SIMS were like entering hell and I had failed, but I passed and you can too!
AUD 85 (2/22/12)

maaroufrnMemberTaking FAR tomorrow morning. Wish me luck everyone, I really would love not to have to take this test again. I went to work today only for a couple of hours and came home early to review. I am going to read all of my notes, review all the formulas and JE in all chapters and try to do a final exam review….
Good luck to all who are taking the test tomorrow too.

rendittMember@Soon2BCPA127: Everybody has their own learning style, so you have to find what works for you.
Personally, I find the Becker CDs a waste of time and go straight to the book. I read one chapter, take notes of the key concepts and do the MCs and SIMs (if applicable). I work full time and have a small child, so I can only do 1 chapter per week. Once I'm done with all chapters, I re-do MCs and print out all MCs I get wrong.
In the last few days before the exam, I go through the MCs I got wrong and my summary notes and do the Becker progress tests. I also have the Becker cards, which I only tend to use in the last week or so.
So far I did BEC and FAR with this approach and it worked for me.

Soon2BCPA127MemberHi Everyone – I'm trying to figure out how to print out MCQs from Becker Software… i can't seem to figure out how.. i sort of feel stupid…but i think hard copies of the questions will help me study better. Can anyone please tell me how to print the questions out?
Also, i'm looking for a study buddy in Princeton, NJ area. If you're interested please email me @ Puni_27@msn.com
