Weirdly, I've always done better on Sims than on Multiple Choice questions, even though when I study I do more multiple choice questions. I really have to improve my score for the MCQ. I've got the Wiley Test Bank CD and I'm going to use that. Does anyone else have any advice for me? Thanks!

I think supplementing Becker with a Wiley testbank is beneficial!

@dharani20: So i feel that sticking to one material is always better. Revising same material more number of times gives you more clarity every time you read. May be once you get clarity over the concepts you can practice problems and SIMS from various sources.

Totally agree with you on the clarity part from revisiting the same information in the book. i know most people don't really read that much, but I read the whole book at least twice, and some of the more troublesome sections 3 or 4 times. It really helps that much more.

Def. agree! With REG, I read the book 2-3times, and worked all the problems in the passmaster before I moved on to Wiley! It was very helpful!

Thank you guys for the help. I guess ill just stick to becker and once im done with the course i can do questions from the other sources. I do becker questions side by side to get better hold of the material but you know you always want to do more questions to make sure you cover all the material.

    Thanks

So I'm studying for FAR and it's just a struggle to keep things in my memory. My memory capacity is a small basket and FAR subjects are like a bunch of apples. I keep putting the apples into the small basket, but as I put more, they just keep slipping off. And as I put them back on, the same amount falls out. It's a vicious cycle. >< There's just too many apples!! All the other tests definitely seemed to use my short term memory, but this is a different story. I guess I just have to keep studying until it becomes part of my blood.

I am also studying for FAR right now and facing similar problems. Its just too voluminous. A friend of mine has suggested me to keep going back to the topics already read every now and then. Just try to quickly scan through what major concepts are. Currently i am trying to do that. Also i have kept a small note book where i summarize the whole chapter. And keep taking a quick peek at it. Its really tedious and takes a lot of patience to do this. But i keep telling myself that it is better to do this first time and get it done rather than preparing for FAR over again.

You were able to keep all the AUD topics straight and get a 90…FAR shouldn't be that big of a streatch. 😉

I'm scheduled for FAR May 30. I got a slow start to studying so now I'm a little behind. I just finished chapter 4 (m/c only) so I still have to go through the other 6 chapters. I have read 5 & 6 just no questions yet. I'm starting to freak out intermittently.

This is kind of a good thing for me because I do best when I'm under pressure. Well, I'm not positive I do my best on the CPA exam yet since I don't have any scores yet but for other exams & at work I do best under a deadline. I can't have any options to reschedule or that ruins the whole thing so I'm taking this exam come hell or high water on May 30.

I'm thinking my best bet is to work out questions every day. I'm using Becker & have the flash cards. I also have Ninja notes. I'm reading flash cards & notes every chance I get. I'm going to start writing the notes (ninja + my notes) in the last two weeks.

One minute I'm thinking I can do this, the next I get really overwhelmed. This is a lot of material! I'm so glad I have this place, it's nice knowing I'm not alone. Plus I'm tired of my family telling me not to worry, I'm smart blah blah blah. It's a lot easier to get As in college. I seriously didn't have to work as much taking 12 hours of grad school & working full time as I do now studying & working full time + (public).

Well I better get back to it. Just wanted to come out of lurk & say hi.

hey friends, question about governmental accounting.

taking FAR in a couple days but this section is still my Achilles heel. should i spend time nailing the reconciliation of governmental fund F/S to government-wide F/S or spend time on other fact nuggets?

Camfairbanks–if I were you I would try to feel more comfortable with the reconciliation of governmental funds. Governmental accounting and non for profit is heavily tested in the exam and it could make a big difference in your final score. I honestly think that I did not pass FAR the first time because I went to the exam knowing that I was not strong in governmental accounting. It was not fun….If I were you I would spend a few hours trying to understand it better. Good luck in your exam..mine is on 05/24th

    AUD July 2013
    BEC August 2013
    REG TBD
    FAR TBD

Using Becker, Ninja audio, and Wiley test bank.
