AnonymousInactiveYou might consider getting the test bank and practicing there?

AnonymousInactiveSo, it's come to this…
I have FAR in 4/2, this is my first time taking the exam, I have been studying with becker since mid January, went through all the mcq and all the lecture once, I am getting passing scores on the comprehensive progress tests but 2 or 3 of the 30 questions the software picks I can remember the answer for so I am not sure if this is reflective of what my performance is gonna be come exam day.
What do you guys think about becker sims, some were long but most of the ones in the final exams are really short drop down boxes, I am completely nervous for the sims and the mcq now, just the whole test in general.
I just bought the ninja notes and I am really close to buying the wiley test bank as well, should I?
Thanks guys.

mazel-tovMemberI finished all the lectures and MCs from Becker about four days ago. I am also going to take the exam on the first week of the testing window.(april 4th) and am out of my mind freaked out. I was contacted by Lambers two weeks ago concerning their testing software (not the full self study). I was skeptical at first but now that I got it, I feel like it may just do the difference. I am planning on going through every question on there (some are exactly the same as becker) but also doing what lamabers calls their adaptive drill and then taking actual simulated exams. Any advice on what to focus on for the 2012 version that could also make the difference? last minute study tips?

katieshmadyMemberFcinloco19, What's the Lambers adaptive drill?
Cpacuk, if you've already mastered the questions in ur primary review course, I would definitely invest in another test bank for ur final review if you have time, and two weeks should be enough to run through the problems in a second test bank to make the purchase worth it.

mazel-tovMemberThe software is supposed to help with focusing on the areas that you most need help with. It begins with a Pretest Mode (100 questions), this assessment will give you feedback on all of the areas of the exam and what percentage you received. this is supposed to help with assessing where you need to focus more of your time. (weaknesses rather than strengths). from the pretest mode, you move into the adaptive drill mode you chose the sections that you didn't do so hot on.
” The Historical Analysis system tracks and monitors all of your Adaptive Drill activity. Lambers tracks your progress in preparing for the exam. You will know how far you've come and how far you still have to go. More importantly? you'll know exactly where you need to invest your time. As you gain proficiency in one area, our engine will continually identify your remaining weaknesses and refocus your sessions until you have mastered even the most complex concepts of the exam”—lambers
after finishing this apparently you can move on to the drill mode which focuses more on using the skills you have learned as well as applying the stamina. I know this sounds a bit selling but truth is, I am a bit skeptical of whether to spend time on it or go back to the Becker material….

FreidoMemberHey people,
I've never posted before so have mercy if I asked something that's been asked before. I'm currently studying for FAR – test date TBD – hopefully April/ May, using Becker since Feb this year. I've been out of school for 3 years so a lot is fuzzy at this point. Would it be a good idea to get supplemental text as well, i.e Regular financial reporting accounting text books? Coz I feel like there's basic things that have slipped my mind that aren't covered in detail. If so any text suggestions? Or should I just focus on cramming whatever's in the text / lectures? Any other advice from those who've passed would be appreciated.
Thanks guys

AnonymousInactiveIt would be helpful to have an intermediate textbook to get a different explanation on topics you might be having trouble with. If you have one on hand, definitely refer to it but I wouldn't go out and buy one just for that. If you're using Becker, it would be a great idea to supplement with the Wiley test bank (you can purchase it from this site for a discount!) I bookmarked the following website after someone else posted about it on here…
https://www.principlesofaccounting.com/
It was a good reference tool, especially for bonds. Good luck!

I Will PassMemberHi everyone! I've been stalking these forums for the past 3 weeks and I thought I should introduce myself. I've been studying for just 2 weeks but I'm already starting to feel like I'm going crazy. I'm currently finishing my MBA and working busy season. I'm hoping that after April 18th I'll be able to stay more focused. I hope that this forum will help me get through!

AnonymousInactiveHi everyone, so I just had the my first experience with the cpa exam.
I took FAR today and it was really really hard. Here's how it went:
testlet 1 was easy, I had extra time that I to review each question.
testlet 2 was a little bit more calculation than testlet 1. I thought it was good cuz I felt an increase in level of difficulty. (I don't know how I feel about it now). I guessed around 3 questions on this testlet.
testlet 3 was a beast, I guessed on at least 10 questions, went over my alloted time I had saved for the sims.
THE SIMS….. 🙁
Holy crap, that was intense, nothing like what I had experience in Becker.
It was all calculation, none of that nice drop down boxes, except for the research.
I basically ran out of time as I was putting in the last answer for the research problem. Good thing was I put something in, bad thing was I didn't know if it was right or wrong.
After the exam I'm not sure if the mcq testlets got progressively harder or that I just wanted to believe that because I heard it's easier to pass when getting harder mcq testlets, but the sims just blew me away.
Thanks for letting me vent.

If testlet 1 was easy, then you should NOT spend your time to double check it. Since your testlets got harder, you should let those tough questions go and save your time for the SIMS. If you are in testlet 2 or 3 and you get a questions that you have no idea, take a guess and move along. For the SIMS, you should look at all the problems first and attack the one that you feel the easiest. Good luck.

AnonymousInactive@cpacuk: That is exactly what happen to me the first time i took FAR. Totally underestimated the SIMS. I got a 73//scored strong in MCQs//scored poorly on the simulations so that's why i failed. I take the exam this friday. Any last minute advice?

AnonymousInactiveI took FAR and failed because I underestimated the simulations. I only gave myself 40 mins to do 7 mini simulations. Yeah, “mini” is not the word I'd used to describe the simulations. Totally not what I was expecting using Becker. The Becker simulations were very easy in some of the topics. This time I'm better prepared…I hope….**cross fingers**
