    Quick indirect cash flow question–

When subtracting gains or adding losses to/from net income ***after taxes***, do you account for the tax effect? For instance, if gain from sale of equipment is $100 and tax rate is 30%, would I subtract $70 to arrive at operating cash flows or do I subtract to entire pre-tax gain?

    Thanks!!!!

Got out of FAR literally one hour ago. I was a nervous wreck before the exam and already have plans for a possible re-take in the July/Aug testing window…of course, depending on my what my score looks like next week during score release.

    Here's how it went:

    1st testlet – medium

2nd testlet- medium hard (half were hard calculations, half were conceptual questions)

    3rd testlet – hard

SIMS- as expected (hard) but was able to complete all of them–hopefully I got something right.

No surprises, really…all that I expected was on it–was kind of upset that some topics were not tested AT ALL…those would have been easy points for me.

I totally slacked on MCQs during my studying but did study the concepts pretty well (and used Jeff's Ninja notes for quick last-minute review).

Not sure what to expect–I guess I just needed to vent. Anyone had a similar testlet pattern and passed? Any words of encouragement or discouragement from prior experience? 🙂

msmeyer- sounds like you did vey well- don't think you will have to study again…

I, on the other hand, took the exam on the 23rd and I have no clue if I will pass or fail, since I bombed the SIMS but did well on the MCQ ( I think).

    FAR 61, 82! ( 11/9/12)
    AUD 67, (4/19/13) WAITING!!

I just took FAR this morning. I have been studying on and off this tax season and was 50/50 on whether to take it or postpone up until about a week ago. I crammed this last week and weekend and viewed this as a practice test more than anything. I found the MCs to be ok. My sequence was medium hard medium if I could guess. Alot of IFRS which i kinda punted on and a good amount of Governmental. The sims were much harder in my opinion than any other section. This is by far my weakest section (no pun intended) and I knew I would struggle. What is scary about the sims, is that if I was a prepared as I would have liked to be, I still think they would have been tricky. I had about 2 hours left for sims and completed them all and definitly got the reseach right so we will see how it turns out. Hoping to be one of the ones who feels like they for sure failed and made an 80. I have been about dead on on my other 3 scores though. If i could guess I would say 70.

    REG - 88
    AUD - 96
    BEC - 76
    FAR - 79

I took it this morning. I too, felt like I got a 70 or 71. Testlets were medium-hard-easy and feel like I scored in the 85-90% range on the SIMS. I would be surprised if I got 10 right out of the middle testlet though. Man.

I think Governmental and IFRS stuck out to me because I probably didn't spend enough time on them. Pay attention to what authority is available for the SIMS questions. Because not all the potential topics are covered by certain collections of authority.

peteymit – sounds like you passed.

    AUD - 64, 75
    BEC - 67, 75
    REG - 33, 58, 76
    FAR - 41, 73, 84
    DONE.

Tip: If you don't feel like you're studying hard, you'll probably fail. Study harder.

Took FAR on 2/28/12 for the first time, but probably not the last. Only had 58 mins for the sims and they were not what I expected. MC was ok, but it's no coincidence that the last 2 chapters of Wiley/Yaeger are Gov and Not for Profit and those were my weakest points during the test. Should have spent more time on these. If I do have to re-take I will be an expert on Gov and NFP!!

Scores should be out soon enough, so I'm going to continue studying as if I failed

    BEC 02/24/11 81
    REG 10/29/11 85
    AUD 01/07/12 79
    FAR 02/28/12 77

As with the post above…..I took FAR a week ago for the first time, but probably not the last. I put in months of good studying with the Wiley books and online test bank. Unfortunately, it felt like my weaknesses were exploited: Non Profit/Govt Accounting and IFRS. It felt like every other question was based on one of these topics. No Pension, Business Combo, or any other difficult type that required hours of re-learning. Panic mode eventually set in during the the SIMs and I didn't finish. Oh well….guess I'll find out my fate soon enough.

Ironic part is that I work for a federal government agency.

I finished with 17 minutes left but had the same feeling about IFRS and governmental. My stomach sinks everytime I check for my score. Obviously I have a bad feeling about it.

Was derivatives and statement of cash flows also heavily tested?

I just started studying for FAR. After reading some of the posts, I am already disheartened. Formulas are definitely my weakest area. Any suggestions on how to absorb/learn as much as possible. Also which formulas are more heavily tested or more important? Thanks.
