hopeful_cpaParticipanti am finishing up the rogers cram tonight… i didnt take the full course because i feel his crams are just a faster better version of the full course. but anyways…. i'm having a hard time putting all this together, i haven't started the mcq's yet, i will later on tonight and then its just over a 2 week sprint till exam day.
can anybody tell me if going through all the mcq's on the wiley test bank will help put all this together? this is my first time taking this test so its a little nerve wracking for me… even though i'm not one to get nervous, this stupid thing has got me all messed up.

pass.or.die.tryingMemberHopeful, you are doing a cram of FAR and going to take the exam in 2 weeks?? Damm,,,,, your'e a BEAST,,,,I've been studying theis BS for the past 5 weeks and I still cant make it stick….. Everything I did in the first section I totally forgot by the time I got to the 3rd section….
I dont know if mcq's will help or not, but according to the instructors at Becker it will. They swear by the mcq's. Now, they have me thinking that the mcq's in their review are the same questions thats on the test or the numbers have just been changed. If thats the case, do the questions!!!!!! I'm going to pray for ya, keep us posted on how the exam went….

i figure i have no other choice at this point… its going to be a sprint for sure and its going to take a lot of caffeine and pushing hard. i studied for reg for 3 weeks and aud for 3 weeks… i came close to both of them, passed reg the second time through with a week or so review and aud i did the same but missed it by 1 point… i'll god willing get it in april.
i planned 4-5 hours a day of work or so, i picked up some clients, taking saturday off, coming back sunday afternoon, and just killing it for a week or so before the test.

Mike F.MemberHopeful, I'm taking FAR on the 29th and using Roger (full version) as well. I don't think it's possible to “put it all together.” With AUD, I sort of found that I could put it all together, but with BEC and this beast, there are so many different topics and each so in depth with FAR that there is no real flow from one topic to the next. FAR was my strong suit in college, but I'm finding that each topic I thought I knew, goes a little more in depth for the exam and there is no way to connect the dots.
I have found that I kind of sort of master one topic and then I feel like I forget everything when learning a subsequent topic:) For that reason, one of the things I do is mark each question I miss in the Wiley homework. I double mark the ones I miss that fool me with some extra detail. Each week, I go back and do those “extra detail” questions in order to not get beat by wording or details.

thanks for your advice and input… yea aud flowed all together and i'm trying to figure this out but i guess you're right, it doesnt flow and they are just different topics.
i'm finishing up cash flows right now then going to dive into the mcq's for a little before calling it a night.
good luck on the 29th, we'll be handling this the same day.

AnonymousInactiveHi,
I am sitting for my FAR in less than two weeks if any can answer my question asap. Much appreciated. I have 2 questions:
1. Regarding the Authoritative literature research part. You know the format is like: FASB ASC XXX-XX-XX- XXX for example 330-10-20- XXX (Glossary) as an example. The XXX part, what happens if the answer is GLOSSARY???? are we putting 000??? because glossary doesnt have number?
2. Regarding the SIMS, when we have to fill in the shaded cell. What are we supposed to put in shaded cell, if the answer is nothing, I mean either no need to calculate or the answer is supposed to be zero /blank? are we supposed to leave it blank or $0? how the examiner expect us to put in? Or doesnt matter

AnonymousInactive1) The answer will not be in the glossary. It will be a specific code section.
2) Zero or blank are the same thing. If you put a zero it will leave a blank.

sarah210MemberHi everyone,
I'm just now finding this forum. I'm taking FAR for the first time (first section ever) on the 28th. Does anyone have any first time helpful hints? I'm using Bisk, and I've gotten through about 10 chapters so far, but I only work 20 hours a week, so I expect to get through most of the rest of the book by the time I take the test, at least on a basic level.
I'm expecting to fail my first time, and to use it as more of a learning experience of what the test is like. Is that crazy? (More of a rhetorical question.)
Has anyone out there been successful with Bisk just using the books and software?

For me, I try to stick with 2.5 hrs MCQ and 1.5 hrs SIM, which will give me 50 minutes per testlet before the SIMS. However, when I took the exam, I took more time than I wanted on the MCQ and left myself about 1 hour on the SIMS and was very pressed for time and barely got in the last few before the time ran out. And with SIMS you never know what you're gonna get so its better to have a little extra time on your side.
I've heard some people on here say that since the SIMS are 40% of the exam you should spend 40% of the time on them, which I guess equals out to about 1.5 hours or so, but its personal preference I suppose.
Just like in practice questions some questions will take 2-3 minutes whereas others could take 20 seconds, its just a matter of managing your time.
