I am on cloud nine! My little dude is almost 8 months old. He was the first one to find out that I passed 🙂

For my last attempt, I had already been through Becker 4 times, so I didn't want to do that like I had been doing (and it had expired). I got Yaeger CRAM and went through the lectures where I got a few bits of new/good info, but I tend to totally not listen during lectures, so lecture listening isn't the best way to learn for me.

Then, I went through all the Yaeger-assigned questions in the Wiley book. I redid any that I got wrong and made sure I knew why I got it wrong.

After that, I went through my Becker book (I REALLY didn't like the Wiley book, except for the questions) and took good notes and wrote out examples and charts and filled a legal pad or two with notes and rewritten notes. This is what really helped me. It's one thing to look at an example and understand it, but totally different to redo it and understand it.

I then just took as many practice tests as I could from the Wiley testbank and really liked having that since I no longer had the Becker software to do MCQ/SIMS on the computer.

So moral of the story is after attempting FAR with Becker and failing, write out notes, buy the Wiley book and do the questions, and buy the testbank. Good luck!

Megan- when you saw that you had all credits awarded, was there anything new on the screen that is available online for you? Do you know how/when you get the application of issuance?

The only thing that changes on the screen is now it says: Total Credits: 4 – Passed All Sections of the CPA Exam

I got an email that said this:

The Texas State Board of Public Accountancy congratulates you on successfully completing the Uniform CPA Examination. A packet of material will be mailed to you containing a record of your scores along with an Application for Issuance of the CPA Certificate and other material that you must submit to complete the licensing process to become a Texas CPA.

Successful completion of the Uniform CPA Examination is one of the requirements for licensure and certification as a Texas CPA. Completion of the Uniform CPA Examination does not qualify you to use the CPA designation in any form until you have completed the licensing process and are authorized to do so by the TexasState Board of Public Accountancy.

Thanks for the response. So you have to wait basically until you get something in the mail. At least you got the email right away. Congrats and hopefully you get that packet soon!

    Thank you Megan

I will follow your advice, I already purchase Wiley test bank and I will follow Jeff's advice as well to choose a topic and do 20 questions on that topic to find out my weak areas and if I score well in that topic move to next one.

Please do not abandon us. Keep in touch. You are an inspiration for a lot of us.

    Congratulation again

    Hello everyone

This is probably my second post on this forum. Tomorrow I have my first CPA exam. I have FAR. I have to say that right now I am very stressed out. When I first started studying I was more motivated and I thought that I am going to pass each section the first time. Now, the closer it comes to exam day, I get more stressed and I feel that I am forgetting everything. I do not even know what to review at this point, shall I do more MCQ, simulations, review basic concepts. I am so lost and feeling a little discouraged. I know now that there is a big chance that I won't pass teh exam tomorrow but at least I have good notes to start all over again.

I just felt like I needed to vent a little bit and not look at FAR for a little bit. I guess I will go back to studying now…..

    CPAgirl21,

My experience with Gov section is different. Most of the exam questions were basic. I only did the section MC but not the Sup. ones and it proved more than sufficient. However, the Gov. sims are a little challenging.

I took FAR yesterday and have question about MCQ testlet, I'm trying to access how I did on my exam. I know MCQ testlet are in three category easy, moderate and hard. I assume that the first MCQ testlet is moderate, second testlet depends on how you did on your first testlet, etc. My question is how do you know your MCQ testlet is getting harder, for exp. bond and lease calculation maybe easy for one and hard for another. In general, can it be concluded that more calculation in 2nd and 3rd testlet reflects getting harder? Any oppinion?

    @ Achiever

Since you have one Section ID per exam, you can go to the Prometric website and schedule your exams once you are ready, but please keep an eye on the expiration date “Last you can take the exam” column.

    Done 😉

    mzdima,

Don't bother trying to figure it out…scoring is a mystery. On my BEC (88) exam, I got a moderately difficult first section followed by an easier second section followed by an even easier section. I was convinced I failed the exam.

On AUD(94) I got three incredibly challenging testlets and I was convinced again that I failed it. Study hard and the rest in Nosferatu's hands.

    relax now..and enjoy the break

    Cheers

    So general question:

I took FAR during the beginning of 2011, just as they were releasing exams w/ IFRS. They test question on IFRS was pretty limited and generalized, nothing too outrageous or out of scope from Becker.

Now heading into 2012: I know no one really knows the answer to this, but have the questions on IFRS become more specified? I just want to gauge how much study time I will need to put into knowing the differences between US vs IFRS.
