j214ParticipantI hate FAR. I have never felt this down before. I can't score higher than a 70 on any of the MCQ's on the Wiley test bank. My exam is next Monday and I'm really starting to feel down. I don't know if I can study this all over again. I want this exam out of my life for the new year, but I just don't know.. Any suggestions ?

Yvonne570MemberGo through all the lectures – follow the program. Practice makes perfect since there is a lot of complex concepts to learn, which takes hands on to stick. When you are done with the process, go through the “Progress Test” located in the pass master software. This test will sum up all concepts and show where your strengths and weaknesses are.
Where you have weaknesses, you should go back through to try MCQs for practice – or lectures if needed.
Then try simulations to see where you are at. In the end, make sure you do both practice tests to test your knowledge.

pamdoMemberso i finally scheduled my test for Jan 5th . i have pushed it back so many times for so many reasons. I'm almost done with the first go of the becker but i honestly don't think i remember the stuff i have done in the beginning chapters. Im freaking out which does not make me want to study. I don't think would be able to study for this test again if i failed. I need some motivational and studying advice. do i go over all the questions again? i remember the answers most of the time so i doesn't really help. i don't know how to approach the review

Yvonne570MemberYou have plenty of time. Complete the entire review process. Then once you are done, then I would do a progress test to see where your weaknesses are for re-review. Becker is 5 weeks so this will give you additional time to review after the main review. You are very lucky. I scheduled real soon after I sat for AUD. I should have pushed it back; however, you have more than a month – almost 2 months so are very good. I see you passed REG and congrats. It's best not to push back too much because you may risk losing your REG credit.
So in summary:
1) finish review
2) progress test
3) re-review weak areas – i.e. more mcqs – listen again to lectures
4) practice SIMS
5) practice test
AUD - Passed:)
FAR - Passed:)

joshuaohchocincoMemberj214 – I know how you feel. I took a full out test last week and scored a 50%. Ive been studying since August. My test is Friday. What I did is I went back and studied the areas I was struggling with and cranked out the basics of those areas. I have 3 friends that have passed FAR and they all tell me the same thing, just know as much of the basics as you can. Since then all my practice stuff has been 80-90%. My advice from my friends is that the exam is so long with such limited material to chose from that they can only give you so much. Also dont forget the exam is scored on a curve so remember if youre having a tough time with something and youve put in the hours there is a good chance that at least 50% of the people taking the exam that day are having the same problem. Good luck…GET R DONE!

tcnormanMemberI took FAR this morning and I have a question. How are the simulations weighted? Does the research tab count for 1/7th of all the sims? Or is each blank space a point? I'm curious as to whether it is worth searching for the research code as opposed to solving other sims when time becomes an issue.

savy100MemberI also took FAR yesterday and left 1 of the sims completely blank. On the practice tests, I had plenty of time to finish, but on the actual test, I felt the sims were so much more lengthy and difficult than the practice sims on becker. I felt the whole exam was very difficult, anyone else feel the same? I just hope I passed.

HustlinHustlinMemberCan somone explain this question to me:
Frame Co. Has an 8% note receivable dated June 30, Year 1, in the original amount of $150,000. Payments of $50,000 in principal plus accrued interest are due annually on July 1, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, and Year 4. In it's June 30, Year 3 balance sheet what amount should Frame report as a current asset for interest recievable on the note recievable?
Becker tells me the answer is $8K because the balance of the note in Year 3 is $100,000, but I do not understand why the balance would not be $50 considering they paid 50 on 7/1/x1 for a remaning balance of $100,000 on 6/30/x2.
Any help?

Are you sure there are 4 payments. That is paying back $200,000 instead of $150,000. Maybe there is a mistake with the problem. I have found mistakes in my Kaplan material but the company is good about acknowledging them for me.
Let me know how it turns out.

Notice the June/July confusion. This thing starts in June at 200K b/c 4 pmts x 50K. July yr one it goes down to 150k. July yr 2 it's down to 100K and it will not go down to 50K until July yr 3. Here the question asks about June yr three so the balance is still 100K. Except I think you are right as notes receivable should be shown on the balance sheet at present value. Let me know if this is a mistake as I will probably need to study FAR again. I will see tomorrow!
