AARONParticipantThanks for the advice. Is the test progressive or has the new format eliminated that? Meaning, if I do well on testlet 1, should expect testlet 2 to be harder?

AARONParticipantWell… T-3 Hours… I feel pretty OK going into this thing… granted it will be for my 3rd time now… not that I don't like this blog… but I sure hope I won't need it for much else in the coming months. Good luck to everyone.

WhyEvenTryParticipantI took the FAR beast this morning. Whoa….it was a good, but hard test. I like it when the question tries to trick you to solve the answer one way, and you out smart the beast. I am nowhere near absolute that I passed this exam the 2nd time around, but I do feel slightly better than I did after my first attempt which left me short 2 points. 1st testlet was a breeze, maybe took 35 minutes on it, 2nd testlet made me want to walk out of the testing center, it was no doubt the hardest testlet I had seen. 3rd was a breeze too (so I probably bombed the 2nd one). 2 out of my 7 TBS were pretty difficult. I actually like the research better know, it is more user friendly once you get it down. It is nice to be able to go back and forth amongst the tabs in the TBS. But, there is definetly lag when you switch to each one.
Does anyone know if the lag waste your testing time? Or, does the time lag too when the test lags? (excuse bad spelling, I typed this in about 2 mins).

AARONParticipantI took the beast today as well. 1st testlet was a joke (I expected that). 2nd testlet wasn't that much harder (didn't expect that) 3rd testlet was really tough! The TBS were very challenging, but nothing I hadn't studied. I just hope I did enough to earn a 75. I've come up short before with a 74 on this exam and if I didn't pass this time I lose my AUD credit.
Does anyone know what it means, if anything, when testlet #2 was not as hard, but testlet #3 was rough. Do I even have a chance or should I assume I failed again? I was just so dumbfounded because I thought testlet #1 was a breeze…

WhyEvenTryParticipantDrod57 –
Yes, there were a few curveballs on the sims I had. It's not that the info they were asking was something foreign to me, but it was the way they were asking it. I just had to slow down, take a deep breath, and re-read the situation a few times to see what they really wanted. And I had another sim that was on a topic I believed to be easy. That is until I tried to make my answer selections and there were soooo many choices in the answer selection boxes that it confused me. Oh well, I am trying not to dwell on it too much because I have to cram study for BEC which is in two weeks. I was wishing they would have asked me more questions related to when I last took FAR, but I don't believe I had any that were the same. I just hope I don't have to go through that gain, the studying, the testing, and the telling of eager persons that I failed….again.

SONIAParticipantHello everyone! I am studying for FAR taking it on 2/28 and tho i think i understand most of the material but i am having a tough time understanding bonds! Does anyone have any suggestions or tips to better understand bonds? I am using Becker and will be using their final review this week and will be attempting more questions through the wiley software in my final week of prep. And for those that took the FAR exam recently how often did you see bond related questions?
I appreciate the feed back & Good luck to all!

AnonymousInactiveI agree with WhyEvenTry about the sims. The way they were presented/asked/worded just seemed a little different than the 2010 versions. This is my first attempt at FAR, so I am only comparing to REG and AUD sims last year. I also did not leave enough time. I say 1.5 hours is plenty, but by the time I got to the sims, I had 50 minutes remaining.
Idk how I feel about the test overall. My first testlet was easy (which seems to be the general consensus), my second testlet was SO HARD, and then my third testlet got east again. Thoughts?
Hoping for a curve 🙁

AARONParticipantWould you say that when you say HARD questions that the questions became wordier? Mine were still challenging, the second teslet, but not as wordy as the challenging third testlet, which is why I am concerned… and it seems like if you don't get a challenging 2nd testlet, you're in trouble… so I am really worried…

hhiccdParticipantSonia – I took the FAR exam last week and I would say that the bond information is pretty important. I don't want to cross the line with sharing too much but if you are uncomfortable with the topic I would work on it some more until you gain a better understanding.

AARONParticipantIn 2011, will the exam continue to be progressive?! Meaning, will the testlets get harder if you're doing well?

AnonymousInactiveI have to ask: I test on the 26th, 2nd attempt. I'm going back through the Becker chapters I scored poorly on during my last progress test. So far I've redone ch 3 going from an avg of 65% to 79%. I'm seeing an increase in ch 2 from 55% to 79% and still want to redo ch 6 and ch 5 if I have time.
Long story short: does this seem reasonable to expect a passing, just a passing score, nothing extravagent, on the real exam? I do plan on taking the 2nd practice final on Saturday (first one I got a 72%)
