    @ Tia —

I have all of these subjects they are just included in different chapters. For example, Contingencies and Subsequent events are in chapter 6.

Thanks for giving me that information. I was worried I might be missing something.

    Hi Jacquelyn,

You're not alone! I have been studying for FAR since June and I'm still getting scores in the 50-60s. I'm going to just keep on practicing questions-its hard to identify how to handle certain problems. I have been using Gleim/NIU Review and there are lots of questions available.

    hey Mike-

Thanks for your support. It is like I can do the problems in order or topic (5 lease problems in a row, followed by 5 pension probs in a row, etc), but I cannot do them when they are all mixed up (as they obviously will be on the exam). I am scheduled to take the exam on Friday August 9th… maybe I need to move it back. I am about ready to have a panic attack 🙁

What is everyone's take on moving exam dates? Good or bad?

I've moved my test dates back several times this summer already.

Originally, I was scheduled to be done by July 30th, and obviously, I didn't stick to that schedule since I still have two exams left. But I think moving your test date back can be beneficial if you sincerely feel as if you're not ready. But if you've gone through the material and understand most of what you've read through, then, more likely than not, you're probably ready for the exam. It's usual to feel super nervous for the exam, so if it's just a matter of wanting a few extra days to review, I'd say that you're probably better off just gritting your teeth and pushing through it because you probably know more than you think you do. Just my two cents.

    BEC - 7/9/12 - 91

    FAR - 1/3/14 - 80

On a separate note, this might be super obvious, but for bond issuance questions:

When a question says A Co. issues 5-year bonds on August 1st, Y1, dated April 1st, Y1, the actual maturity date of the bond is still April 1st, Y6 right? Is this information only relevant for the calculation of bond issuance costs amortization/figuring out interest? Or am I missing something more here?

    Thanks!

    BEC - 7/9/12 - 91

I agree with Wannx…I am taking it on Thursday and definitely feeling the pressure. I've gone through the material over and over again. I know the material, but the questions are a struggle at times. Just have to trust yourself and give it your best shot. At worst, you don't pass and you find out where you're at.

I am taking it next Friday and feeling very nervous! I've read all the chapters but i haven't done the questions for some areas (fixed assets, foreign currency translation/transactions, business combination, inventory, bonds) but I know accounting changes, pension, taxes, gov't and non profit really well. I feel like I'm running out of time =(

Anyone have any advise on focusing with FAR. I just feel so much pressure with the magnitude of the information. It becomes so daunting that I feel like I don't even want to get started. I get on a roll when I study every night, but the motivation to study at lunch and the morning for just an hour seems like a waste when there's just so much to accomplish. Any suggestions to overcome this? (Failed with a 63 in May)

Has anyone ever used Quizlet for flashcards to help study? I have an opportunity to purchase some for FAR and I wanted to know is it worth it?

Taking FAR on August 14, already know I'll need to retake it. Slacked off on studying and now I don't have enough time to do all the problems in the book. I'll be doing Wiley test bank mcq's all weekend.

Ok. So I thought I would post something just to make me feel like I'm actually starting this thing again. Have been on hiatus since last year. Funny thing is I don't even remember when I took the test. In any case, I'm restarting again and switching to Yeager as I need a full explanation of the concepts to understand anything.

One plus of taking the exam last year is I figured out that the Becker program is not for me. Too bad I purchased all 4 sections and my software expires this October! I did all the videos and then the questions and did each chapter one by one over the course of 2 months. By the time I started the last chapter I had a very bleak memory of the first. So Jeff, I've decided to take your strategy and follow the ELL plan. When I read your plan it just made so much sense. Plus it seems to be really adapted for people who have families and cannot devote just evenings to studying.

Started listening to the Ninja audio today during my 20 minute one way commute. So combined I hope to get 3.5 to 4.5 hours of study time per day. I'm planning on taking the test the first week of November.

Hope I get it this time!

    FAR - Bad Fail '11, Fail '12, Fail '13, PASS It's a miracle!
    AUD - Fail, PASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    BEC - PASS!!!!!!!!
REG - PASS!!!!!!!! And I'm done!

@ahochhal: I can only tell you the way I did it. I studied for FAR with Becker whilst working full time and gave myself a little less than 3 months.

    – I don't watch any lectures, which for me are a waste of time

    – I read one chapter per week, make my own notes and do the MCs. I don't really try to understand the material at this point, I just read and highlight. This doesn't actually take much time, maybe 6/7 hours per week.

    – Once I read all the chapters, summarized them all and did all MCs at least once, I now repeat the process but now trying to understand concepts, details etc. I re-read all chapters, go through my notes, start doing progress tests, focus on questions I got wrong. This is with about 2 weeks to go. Now I study more, probably 3 hours per day every day.

    – I take off the last 2 days before the exam to make sure I'm well rested and have enough time to focus on any problem areas. I focus on the MCs and do all the SIMs but don't do any of the Becker final exams (scored low in my BEC which unnecessarily made me nervous).

    good luck

    BEC - 2/25/12 - 90
    FAR - 5/18/12 - 87
    AUD - 8/4/12 - 94

    Hi FAR Buddies!

Ive been studying for FAR since middle of June now…exam is August 30..I have two chapters left to get through and then onto the Review…Not sure how I am feeling about sitting for exam, considering moving it back to October because I just don't know if I will be prepared..

I havent taken FAR in over a year and when I did take it, I went in with the idea that the exam was not going to be difficult – MISTAKE! I was not well prepared for it…hence the horrific score I received. This time..I have a totally different mind set..I spend my entire day studying my entire weekend studying…making the necessary sacrifices of my time but I was wondering if you guys could give me some good study tips, or just let me know what approaches you have done in your studying. I can't seem to get a passing score on any of the exams..I have tried changing my habits but its not working! A little guidance would be awesome.

    BEC - 67, 68, 68
    AUD - 44
    FAR - 40, 50
    REG - 68, 68
