If it helps you feel any better, I never thought there was a question on the exam were AICPA were purposely trying to trick me. Most of them were pretty straight forward and I could usually tell what they were trying to ask me.

fizzymangoesMember@OneExamAtATime : I did an accounting minor in college, and therefore many of the concepts in FAR are new to me, especially specific rules and details which I just would have never known. But I understand–If I learned everything once before, then I would feel similar to you.
I signed up for Becker FastPass in June and was so motivated to pass all 4 parts before I start full-time in Audit in late Sept, but realized two weeks in that this plan was not feasible. I just graduated and my transcripts did not reflect my degree until end of June. The CBA did not receive my transcripts and start my application process until after July 1. They tell me because of the influx of graduates and rush of new applicants (I'm in California) that it could take the full 6 weeks.
This killed all my motivation–I finished F3 in June, but I haven't touched the material in weeks. I keep thinking, what's the point in cramming when I won't even get an ATT well into August, plus wait another 7 days for my NTS.
I want to get motivated and start on F4, but I don't know what's the most efficient way (and besides the Becker Promise, if it's even worth it) to study for FAR when I have forgotten F1-F3 and might not even get to test until October!
Any advice? Is there anyone else with a similar situation?

Mirnz09MemberI'm taking the FAR exam tomorrow and need advice on how much time should be devoted to each testlet. My plan for the multiple choice is 45, 50, 50 (minutes). Anyone who has just recently taken this section, please let me know if 1.5 hours is adequate for the simulations. Thanks!

AnonymousInactiveHey everyone, quick question about Treasury stock. I know with the cost method, treasury stock is going to be credited for whatever you paid for it when you reissue it. If you buy treasury stock on 2 separate occasions and prices and then reissue it after the 2nd purchase, does anyone know what you book the treasury stock for? Is it a weighted average? FIFO? I can't find it anywhere but noticed that it's definitely possible. Thank you very much!

AnonymousInactiveJust started studying for FAR (8/31). I don't have much accounting class history (8 weeks over last summer in MSA program) and am freaking out.
I'm using Becker self-study. Ch1 went fine, but I'm a mess in Ch2. I'm going through the MC's and am getting every other one wrong. This is my 4th exam, and all the other Becker books treated the material as if it was your first time ever seeing it. This doesn't seem to be the case with FAR. Seems like a LOT of background knowledge is needed. Guessing this is probably the same for the exam too. Honestly, if the rest of the topics are like this, I don't know how I'll have enough time to cover it all by 8/31. Anyone in similar situation??

sdbocMemberHi All,
Has anyone used the Wiley Test bank for Ipad? Do you know if it is comparable to the regular online test bank by Wiley (Same number of questions etc)?
Also, I have the Gleim Test Bank Program but it says they are not sure if it is compatible with MACs or Ipads. Has anyone tried to load the Gleim Test Bank onto a MAC or Ipad? Did it work?
Thanks in advance!!
Brian

newbie_looking_for_helpMemberThis is my first time studying for the CPA exam and I can't seem to get into a good routine with an effective study plan. I am using Becker and attending classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and take FAR on August 30th. I work full-time and am trying to follow the plan Becker has laid out but so far it has proved ineffective.
Any insight or help would be much appreciated.

AnonymousInactive@sdboc I haven't used the ipad version, but I have used the Wiley Test bank android app. So, I don't know if these comments will carry over to the ipad version or not?
I bought it for my phone (Galaxy Nexus) and it DIDN'T work. I remembered that my husband has an Android Xoom, so I downloaded it on there and it worked fine. I have since bought the Google Nexus 7 and it works fine on this device as well.
I have the DVD that Yaeger gave me with their course. The app looks to have the same # of questions, but no SIMs. The main difference is the interface. You can still do study or test mode. You can choose one topic or all topics (but not several topics). It does NOT keep statistics for you. Also you can only choose the number of questions in 5, 25 & 50 question increments. Overall the questions and answer explanations are the same. The portability is important for me, so I didn't care if it kept track of my pass rates. I generally just sit there with the tablet and a notepad. For each question (even if I got it right) I write down at least one concept.
My husband has a job in technology, so buying devices is kind of required for him. That being said, I ordered the Nexus 7 just for myself. I found that sitting at my desk all day (I have a desktop at home) was killing my desire to study. Now I can just grab the tablet and go on the back patio or to a coffee shop (away from tempting distractions.) I didn't really want to invest in a laptop, so buying the Nexus 7 ($200), seemed like a good choice. It fits in my purse, so studying while we were on vacation was easy. I liked that I don't have to “power up” a laptop. The app is $60 for each section on the android market. When you buy a nexus 7, Google gives you $25 for the play store.

ZeeMember@ Nimmle02 How was the test? I take mine on Friday and as you can see from my other posts on different threads, I am getting nervous. How did you find the SIMS? I took a month off work to prepare for this exam and Im hoping it will be enough to get that passing score.

G35MemberIs it possible to get ready for FAR in one month?
I really want to take it at the end of the August testing window, but not sure if it's worth to rush.
I am taking off 3 weeks from work though. I also graduated recently, so the material isn't complete forgotten.
What are your thoughts?
Thank you!

foreseeableCPAParticipantI'm a recent grad too and have been studying for FAR for 2 weeks. I am taking beckers live classes and they go over 2 chapters a week (10 chapters total — 5 weeks). I would say it is doable to take the exam at the end of august if you start now. It all depends on how much you remember from college. The beckers book goes over many things I didnt learn from college so that takes quite a bit of time, especially the IFRS stuff. The MCQs take a lot of time and I also do the optional ones for extra practice. It may be overkill but I am FUNemployed so I got all the time to focus on studying.
