I got an e-mail from NASBA. “In the Business Environment and Concepts (BEC) section, MCQs will account for 85% and Written Communication tasks for 15% of the total score. Additionally, the MCQ testlets in the BEC section will follow the same multi-stage adaptive testing model used in the AUD, FAR, and REG sections.”

Let me see if the link works:

Allison – may I ask what materials you're using for BEC? I just saw that you were using Becker and Yaeger so I was a little curious because our efforts at this exam seem to be very comparable.

So far I have been using 1/2 Yaeger and 1/2 Becker. For corporate governance, I used Becker because I am lazy and like nmemonics. For operations management, I am using Yaeger because I love the way Cindy Simpson breaks accounting down. I'm only one week into it so far.

    What are you doing?

I'm using Becker…I thought about purchasing supplementary materials such as Yaeger but I just can't justify doing it. I seem to have the mentality that if you use one product and just put a lot of time into it, you can pass with any material. However, with the new format change, I'm a little apprehensive and am wondering if Becker alone is enough.

    Dang, I meant “mnemonics”.

Maybe you should try getting just the questions from Wiley for a different perspective. If you have tried Becker before and not passed twice, it may be time to try something different. I reached a point with FAR where I had memorized a lot of the questions and needed to get out of my comfort zone.

I think Becker 2011 is a whole lot better than Becker 2009 from what I've seen. Maybe they read this forum and made improvements.
