I study at lunch and I'm using the Wiley book (also CPAExcel and Lambers) and have been trying to read the chapter on Financial Mgmt (Becker's ch 3 stuff) and it's just killing me. Fin mgmt and cost accounting are the two subjects that are keeping me from passing BEC.

@dustin what about fin mgmt? all the calculations and whatnot? 3 was pretty in depth but i started to grasp the type of mult choice that would be asked and kind of relied on my mult choice strategy of reading last sentence in question first (rather than all the numbers and info, which gets my mind racing, then to realize it was only going to ask the change in working capital, making a lot of information obsolete…)

still, ive moved onto 4, which is pretty common sense IT stuff? (at least for someone my age, 22, who ahs grown up around this stuff and is pretty familiar with most terms)

FAR-75, AUD-82, BEC-82, REG-84 - CPAldog Official (well almost, hard parts over though!!!!!!!)

Can someone please tell me the best way to review 2 or 3 weeks before I take BEC? Should I read the book again or redo all questions? Because I doubt I can do both the book and questions in 2-3 weeks (in addition to the becker final exam).

    Thanks

    BEC 77
    FAR 81
    AUD 97
    REG 75

For BEC I used Becker, Yaeger, Kaplan, Gleim and “CPA Review For Free.” Yaeger Home Study, Kaplan flash cards and “CPA Review For Free” were the best materials. I was very disappointed with Becker for BEC. I can see why so many people fail using Becker for BEC.

Cindy with Yaeger was the best at explaining how to work problems. I still remember “free cash” debits and credits for cash flow analysis!

    @ Harry

From my experience with AUD and FAR, and from what my co-workers say, re-doing the questions over and over and over again seem to really drive the point home. Especially on those calculation questions. Also, really try to find your weaknesses and harp on those. Still refresh a little on the ones you know so you wont forget, but really HARP on the ones you're weak in.

    FAR 10/08/10 76
    AUD 11/19/10 75
    BEC 02/18/11 78
    REG 05/17/11 84 DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give BEC your best shot with Becker. If you fail BEC, immediately buy Yaeger Home Study for BEC. Your Becker book will make a good reference book.

In my opinion, Becker is the best for AUD and one of the worst programs for BEC. I have found that Becker is good for memorization, such as in AUD, but poor for problems, such as in BEC. The same can be said for taxes in REG.

Get Bob Monette's (BISK) Hot Spots for Financial Management and Cost Accounting. If Bob Monette does not teach the course for Bisk, do NOT buy the Hot Spots.

Additionally, you have a lot of individual scores from your failed BEC exams. Use those failed exams to your advantage. The beauty of Gleim is that Gleim's 20 chapters line up perfectly with the AICPA scores. You will be able to design your own tests for your specific weak areas within financial management and cost accounting.

If you fail again, do not give up. Start all over again with Yaeger. Cindy will make you an expert in cost accounting. Cindy at Yaeger's is the best teacher for BEC.
