IHateBEC-2012MemberI took BEC today and wanted to walk out in the middle of the testlet. Because my children were in my mind, I stayed to complete all of the testlets. I did not feel I pass this time. Probably is lower than I took in the first time. I used Becker Self-Study 2012 Materials. I was well prepared before I walked into the exam; yet big SURPRISE!!!! As of now I am clueless of what topics were on the exam. I usually remember what questions and contents after I took for the other parts but not for this time. Now I am waiting for a miracle to come. Best of luck for those who are planning to take soon. Make sure you focus on the theory and not too much on the CALCULATONS!.
FAR – 87
REG – 82
AUD – 78
BEC – 70 (May 2012), Retook (Aug11, 2012) – Waiting for a miracle!!!!!!

AnonymousInactiveSorry to hear about your testing experience. If you're anything like I am this next comment will bother you…but I bet you did better than you think. I almost walked out of my FAR exam and I ended up passing. Just keep your head up and hope for the best as you're wearing out the F5 button in two weeks
Regarding the calculations.. does anyone know if Financial Management is heavily tested? I'm trying to decide how to allocate my time since my exam is 8/27

TaxThreatMember@peterpan.g90: yes!!! I also hated going over BEC4 lecture and sadly I had vey many IT questions on my exam. Don't ignore it! That material does not stay in my head very well so I had to go over the MCQs the morning of the exam just to refresh my memory. I would say that the amount and the scope of COSO and IT questions on my exam really surprised me (in a non-positive way). Now I have to sit tight and wait for the score release.
Good luck with BEC!

lbeth1985MemberI have a question. Do you think one can pass BEC with just the Wiley study book? I have the Yeager lecture DVD's, but I feel like the honestly don't do anything to help me. I do better actually ready a book and studying. It's how I always did things in school. I just took FAR, and I just don't know the difference in the tests. I don't think there is as much material to comprehend on BEC, so I am hoping that I feel better about it. Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated.

BEC 8/24/12 73, Retake 2013

KngsTunYaardy316Member@lbeth1985 if the lectures don't help you then don't listen to them- however they do give you a areas of focus- that's what I used them for- I make sure I know what they talked about in the lecture even if I just fast forward through it to just note where/what was focused-
I've learned from CPA exam study journey that you have to find out what works best for you- keep trying new things until you find something that makes the info STICK-
My personal strategy, is listen to lec. to see if they can offer any kind of insight (and for the most part Yaeger lec have done so) and also to help guide my reading for later- then I read and take notes on everything that was focused on in the lecture making sure to be as concise as possible- then I do the multiple choice and re-write my notes simultaneously, I'll rewrite a module then do MQs for that Module- then review, review, review and do MQs till exam day- I know this sounds tedious, but its what works for me, I soak up the info. this way- and that's the point, to assimilate/understand the info. as effectively and efficiently as possible so you pass-
we'll see how this worked out when I receive my AUD score here on the 22nd- hope that helped

KngsTunYaardy316MemberDoes anybody know why there is a short-term interest savings associated with account receivables- Problem 52 from Module 44 in the BEC Wiley book-
The question asks, “What effect would the implementation of this new credit policy have on income before taxes?” The new credit policy reduces your total income by 5%, this reduction in income is netted against a 10% “interest savings” for the less account receivables you have due to stricter credit policy. I don't get why interest is associated with A/R if you usually don't charge int. on A/R to begin w/. The only time I can remember int. being associated w/ A/R is when a company is going to use A/R to finance something- Anybody thoughts please??
