HustlinHustlinMemberThanks for the input. I think I will use your technique. It's funny because the more time I have spent writing notes, watching lectures and reading the material, the worse my scores get. I didn't even crack the Audit book, just rewrote Becker flashcards and did tons of MCQ.
I think it's time to try something new, I have a feeling this exam will be like the others and I will have a week to review and not be able to complete enough MCQ to use what I have learned.
Time to switch up the game.
Oh and thank you for reassuring me about B1 and B2 complicated homework problems. I look at each one and realize I have 80 more to do for the section and have a heart attack thinking how long they are going to take…sheesh.
Wide span of all MCQ for the win!
B 71 - 79 EXPIRED
A 69 - 75 EXPIRED
R 65 - 48 - 45
F 56 - 61 - 65 - 64Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Wiley Text and Ninja Notes
"The fish who keeps on swimming is the first to chill upstream" -311
Experience - Done, like WAAAY done.
Still need 30 more credits, in basket weaving (gotta love new CA requirements)July 24, 2012 at 4:41 pm #467274

AnonymousInactive@HustlinHustlin..Do not get discouraged…I say, get the Ninja Notes and read them a few times.. I was having such a hard time with process costing and the Ninjas saved my butt…Practice, practice, and repractice the MCQs…However, I think reading helps a lot..Good luck!!!!!!

AnonymousInactive@ HustlinHustlin BEC is super hard and every normal candidate fail it at least once. I will suggest you to try the following:
1-change to Wiley/Yeager review material (no the cram)
2- forget about notes for now, you got plenty already
3- read the entire Wiley book “s l o w l y”
4- do mcq in becker by using progress exams rather than the mcq in each topic
5- do the mcq from another source (in case you started memorizing the answers in becker)
6- take one exam at a time and do not move to the next until you have passed that one
Good Luck !!

It's good to know that you're studying without taking notes either and you're still able to get such good grades. Way to go! It looks like we took REG one day apart and I do feel nervous about that one too. Part of me wants me to hope that I will pass it although I did poorly with the Sims and another part of me wants me to be reasonable and not hope for a miracle that will not happen. I'm therefore worried that if I hope for a passing grade, I'm going to get my heart broken when the results are out. Based on the experience of many who took it and swore they failed it and end up passing it with surprisingly good grades, I'm secretly keeping a 5% hope of passing it : )
@ HustlinHustlin
I believe you won't be deceived by trying a new approach to studying. One week is definitely not enough to review all MCQs before the exam. However, if you give yourself 2 to 3 weeks, your grade might positively surprise you. The lesson that I learnt from studying for CPA is that repetition is key to success. Practice the questions until you can answer them with your eye closed and without looking at the answer choices. Learn from trial and errors. I hope you'll pass this exam and begin your passing spree.

Thanks for your encouraging message! I really hope that you pass BEC with flying colors this time around. You've technically passed each section at least once in the past but it's just the timing that wasn't right. If you did it before, you can do it again and it will feel great for you to finally write this four letters word: “DONE”. Thereafter, all you have to do is just to sit back, relax and enjoy the ride in the “CPA license holders' world” : )
Good Luck!

Accounting Rate of Return = Net Income per year / Initial (in this case) Investment
–So… Net Income per year / Cost of Machine (X) = 10%
–They give you the Cash flows figure, but that is not Net Income.
–Depreciation is not included in the 3,000 cash flow figure.
–Net Income per year = 3,000 – Depreciation per year.
–They tell you it is S/L over 10 years, so Depreciation = .10X (cost of machine)
— (3,000 – .10X ) / X = .10
3,000 – .10 X = .10 X
3,000 = .20X
15,000 = X
The problem I had with this problem is that they said the Cash Flows were net of tax, yet the depreciation expense is before tax. I assume that is a typo.
