@mgoloubenko – sounds like we are on a similar path! I am finishing 5 & 6 lectures this week, exam date is 7/13. I have changed my study routine a little each time, for BEC I am moving through lecture quickly and plan to go back an finish all the MCQ's after. (for AUD / FAR I tried to do one lecture then all MC before moving on to next section) I like getting through all the info and having a better grasp on what all will be covered. I am also – dare I say – “enjoying” BEC after finishing FAR. I'm not complaining near as much as I had been, still wish I had my life back but eventually I will. I hope I'm not overconfident going into this one but I feel good at the moment.

    AUD 85 (2/12) Using Becker
    FAR 81 (5/12)
    BEC 79 (7/13)
    REG 85 (10/1)

    Hello Everyone!

Its really helpful to read everyone's experiences in this group. I have my BEC exam scheduled for 5th July and have started re-doing all the homework. I am planning on finishing B2 today but it seems like I have forgotten everything. This is my first section and really starting to get nervous. I am using Becker study materials and have heard that its not enough to pass. Its too late for me to purchase any new material as I have less than two weeks left for the exam. B2 is really killing me and the Becker homework seems really tough and complicated. I just hope the actual exam isn't that bad.

Any help on how I should plan my last two weeks of studying?

    Good luck everyone!!!!

@Mansisheth – Good luck on your exam!

Power through the homework (this is your second time through it right?). Mark the questions that you really struggled on. After going through all the questions, revisit the questions that you marked. Don't necessarily mark all the ones you got wrong, just the ones that are very difficult concepts.

I'd do the final exams each twice. Also do each simulation twice. I did all this a couple of days before the exam.

Are you using flashcards? Those helped me. Keep aside the cards with the more difficult concepts. Go through your highlights in the book.

I hope this helps! Best of luck!

@HSP_CPA – Thanks for the tips. Yes this will be my second time going through the homework. I did B2 all yesterday and printed out the ones I am having trouble with. I am planing to review those tonight and start with B3. Yes I have purchased the BEC flashcards and have also made some of my own. I have exactly two weeks till the exam and some days I feel confident and some I feel like I don't have enough time to review all the materials.

The B2 homework questions are really and confusing at times. I just hope the actual exam isn't this complicated. I understand the concept but sometimes don't understand the explaining Becker gives to some of the questions. Any suggestions on how I should plan out my 2 weeks. Thanks for the input 🙂

Does anyone out there use a risk based approach to the CPA exam? I'm using Becker and I use the weights allocated to each subject. For example, I'm taking BEC July 10th and have spent more of my time studying Financial Management (19-23% of the exam) and less on Strategic Planning (10-14% of the exam). It worked for REG and AUD. Once I realized that Business Law was only like 20% of the REG exam I focused mainly on tax and passed… I guess the question I'm getting at is does anyone know if these weights are genuine or is it just a Becker “estimation”?

    Chris 1k2,

The estimate given by the Becker CPA wasn't manufactured by Becker itself. This is what is in the AICPA syllabus. Use what works for you but I will suggest that you consider practicing more questions on BEC with what is obtainable in Becker (you may consider Wiley or others). I will say Becker did not do a very nice job with it materials on BEC. “It is just a piece of advice”. Good luck.

Thanks austingolduk, I appreciate the advice. I've heard people say the same things about Becker and BEC, although most of the people that work at my firm using Becker have passed BEC so hopefully I can keep up with them… good luck with REG.

    Hi all –

For some reason BEC is the MOST difficult for me. While many said that it's the easiest party, OMG I am having such a difficult time with cost accounting…particularly cost accounting. There are 2 whole chapters on it. Yikes. I am just so worried and discouraged every time I get something wrong. I've been scoring poorly on the homework….60% percent tile my frist time going through it.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

    FAR – passed, 83

    AUD – passed, 86

    REG – failed 68, 71 (retake in Nov. 2012)

    BEC – failed, 60 (retake Aug 2012)
