AnonymousInactiveWell, I took BEC on 5/30 and got a 70. That was after studying for 3.5 weeks at about 6-10 hours a day. I don't have an exam date yet but I'm thinking the second week of July. Maybe the 9th….I'm not going to kill myself by doing 6-10 hours of studying this time around. I figured I would shoot for 4 hours and if I'm feeling okay then I'll do a little more and possibly a more on the weekends. That should give me approx. 100-130 hours of additional study time so that I can tie up those loose ends that I was struggling with before.

AnonymousInactiveBack studying for BEC. just passed audit got my confidence back.Although have had trouble with BEC in the past. Most frustrating thing is I feel like I know the material so well. I know I have a few weaknesess with NPV and a few other math areas I want to spend extra time on. But I am always comparatvive or stronger on the WC's. I have to hammer the MC. Im using MDS and wiley test bank. Anyone have any helpful hints? Thanks!

KatydidMemberHi Everyone-
Just found out I failed BEC with a 74 and the part that I'm dreading the most is going back to those Olinto lectures in Becker! I suffered through and think I deserve at least 1 extra point for that!
I'm new to this site and was wondering what everyone was using? I'm really interested in the Ninja Audio as I think those would be perfect on the commute, during workouts, etc. Have any of you utilized these?
Good luck everyone!
B-74,84 (Expires 1/31/14)
A-79 (Expires 7/31/13)
R-72,83 (Expires 4/31/14)
F-80 No more expiration worries, I'm Done!June 11, 2012 at 3:44 pm #467051

mgoloubenkoMemberHey guys, so I'm a little stuck on variances in B2. While I can get certain question right, I am not that confident about all the different types. I remember that I used to be quite good in cost accounting but that was about three years ago when I was a sophomore in college and now I can't remember how I knew which formula to apply to each situation. I am using Becker and the PURE and SAD acronyms aren't really helping me. Any advice on other resources to nail this topic? I don't have my cost accounting book anymore 🙁
FAR 4/9/12- PASSED
BEC 7/13/12- PASSED
AUD 8/16/12- Ughhh 71, Rematch: 90!!!
REG-12/6/12 PASSEDUSC MAcc- Fight on!
They say good things come to those who wait, but only those things that are left by those who hustle.

AnonymousInactive@mgoloubenko…I have an easy way to remember all variances, basically I worked backward. All variances were about labor, material, and overheads, and they all based a basic formular, which I used: AQ*AR — AQ*SR — SQ*SR, A stands for Actual, S Stands for Standard, Q stands for quatity (as in hours of labor or unit of material), and R stands for rate (as in labor hr rate or price of material/unit)…use the comparision between the two and you will get the varience right. materials and overheads are trickier, but they are still based on the same formular. I am planning to start a thread later today on how to work on variances in details once I gotta my BEC book at home (so that I won't give out wrong info since I took it a while back).

mgoloubenkoMember@CPA- Convertible, that would be a real lifesaver. I know it's not complicated, but I'm having trouble distinguishing which variance it's really asking for! Muuuuuuch appreciated.

AnonymousInactive@EELCPA now you have me feeling worried. I have only 5 weeks to do BEC. This way I'll have about 6.5-7 weeks for REG. I'm not used to have less than 6 weeks of studying. I had 9 weeks for FAR and 7 weeks for AUD. I figure I would be getting about 4-5 hours on weekdays and 6 hours on weekends. I'm not sure if I have enough time to study using my usual method.
