msanghMemberI found out few weeks back that I failed my first exam BEC with 60 🙁 I used Roger CPA review & Wiley and had put in hundreds of hours. I had thought after the exams that if I fail it will be very close. 60 is very bad though. I am out of mourning and planning to reappear in August. I had already started studying for REG and now my plan is to complete Sec 1 of REG by this weekend start BEC next week until exams. Any study ideas will be great.

NYCpatMemberThe magic formula is to not worry yourself about the content of the WCs, as content is not as important as the proper format, spelling, punctuation and syntax.
Certainly throw in a few buzzwords for the computer grader to pick up on, but you should be more concerned with writing a direct and concise memo with the standard 3 paragraphs: intro stating purpose of memo, body stating resolutions or proposals for the client and conclusion stating why this will address the issue posed.
Not really something you can practice per se, other than to be able to crank out a solid memo following that format.
BEC - 82
AUD - 65; retake Feb 2013
FAR - April 2013
REG - July 2013?June 4, 2012 at 8:58 pm #467005

Kim4MemberThe WCs are computer graded? As in, using the same grammar rules that MS Word does? I'm thinking that I'll practice a couple of memos, but I don't see how to study for something like that, especially if you can't check to see if you got it “right”.
FAR -- 90
AUD -- 95
BEC -- 82
REG -- 92DONE!

ppierceParticipantThe magic formula is not studying for it at all. Maybe read a couple of examples in the Wiley booke before the exam. Don't waste your time preparing for them. All you need is:
Intro Paragraph – Repeat the question start out by saying something like “This memo is to talk about the benefts of xxxx”
2nd Paragraph – Make sure to discuss whatever you talked about in your Intro.
3rd Parargraph- Use a 3rd paragraph to discuss another point you made in your Intro
Conclusion – Make sure to restate what you talked about. Use the exact words given in the original question.
I knew enough about all 3 Topics to not have to BS very much. But if you are cluess about the topic, use that layout and try to include as much as you possibly can about the topic even if its bs.
FAR 80
REG 76
AUD 85
BEC 85
