AnonymousInactiveWhyme, if you have the 2012 edition then you may already have the additional information. I have the 2011 edition. In some areas that were covered briefly the lecturer stated it was new material and wasn't sure how much was going to be tested.
AV2012, I, too, felt confident after my BEC exam. I had a lot of calculations and my answers matched one of the choices. I knew (at least I thought I did) how to work the problems and some of them were quite wordy. Some of the short questions were unfamiliar to me – never even came across the terminology. My performance summary was comparable on the WC and on three sections and weaker on the other three. I ended up with a 72. What I find odd is a posting I read by a member who said his/her exam was weaker on all the MCs and stronger on only the WC (which is only 15%) but received a 73; a better performance. Go figure.

I had this exact same question on my exam on thursday. I answered “Increase in suicide rates”

AnonymousInactiveThese comments scare the hell out of me. I see that people that combined Becker + Wiley/Yeager like me failed in the 70's several times. I will dump Becker completely and go all the way for Wiley/Yeager and Ninja notes. Becker is only good for AUD IMO any combination with BEC one gets bombed.

SW123MemberHello! I've been reading about how people have been spending a lot of time studying for BEC or other sections and for some reason, did not do well on the exam. I can only offer from my own experience, and this approach does not work for everybody. I've been using Gleim Book and Testprep software for my study and studied a lot and was lucky to pass both BEC and AUD on my first attempt. I can't afford the expensive $2,000 plus Becker program and had a Master in Accounting so I opted for just a book and a testprep software from Gleim.
Before I decided to take any exam, I took the Gleim Diagnostic Quiz first for all four sections. I scored the best on BEC, followed by a tie of AUD and REG, and did the worst on FAR so I decided to study for BEC in which the section that I feel the most confident in passing. Based on my research from Becker, the program recommends that Accounting students should take FAR first because it's relatively fresh in your minds. However, after speaking with Gleim personal counselor, the rep suggested that it's best to take the part that you're most confident in passing in order to build confidence.
I spent about two months studying for BEC with stuff to do in between, and studied the concepts and do the MC like crazy and did not really do much on the WC, because I figured that it's only 15%. In addition, WC is really wide open for the CPA exam because you don't really know what the CPA exam will ask you to write. Like everyone else who first took any part of the CPA exam, I was confused with the questions and the wording and did not know if I had passed the exam. I was very relieved to find out that I passed after all those time of studying. Gut-feeling guessing is also another part on the CPA exam that I've learned to acquire because some of the questions are just seemed like out of nowhere. Just my 2c!
Just don't give up!

SW123MemberI know other people who already had a MS in Accounting who used Wiley and passed based on their studying of the MCQ and TBS, and Wiley is very comprehensive and detailed. I use Gleim because too much information can be too much for me, and it's important that you study and understand the concepts and study the MCQ. It works for me! Just my 2c.
