For anyone out there who has taken the BEC portion of the CPA exam, I have some questions regarding how you prepared for the written communication portion. I feel pretty confident in my writing skills, however I am less confident in my ability to come up with enough to say on the topics that they might give me. I use Becker to study and I am trying to practice on their simulation questions. I am having trouble coming up with things to say because even though I know the topics well enough to answer the multiple choice questions (well mostly), I am having trouble pulling the information out of my head that I need. Does this make any sense? What did you guys do to prepare for the written communications? Did you practice, or did you just know the material well enough so that you could wing it? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello, I am taking BEC on February 23rd and I am using the Yaeger videos and using the Becker Material(texts). The Becker Material text is about 100 pages long where I get from listening to Cindy Simpson, that the Wiley text is only 30 pages of information.

And from watching the videos, it seems like Cindy doesn't want us to read the text especially for this section and just try to use intuition/logic to figure each problem out.

In otherwords, do tons of problem. Don't try to read this section as it is too much info that might not be useful to us as Accountants.

Also noob, thank you for posting that youtube video. It was a little bit uplifting and inspiring as I am really prone to the “blues”. I guess as a CPA candidate, the feeling is mutual.

Did anyone take the exam this weekend? I'm curious to know if they found it as easy as I did. Hopefully that's a sign I was over-prepared and not the adaptive testing at work. I was shocked how little calculations there were, and there were a few crossover questions I did not expect.

    F - 83 (1/2/12)
    A - 88 (5/8/12)
    R - (5/30/12) Waiting game
    B - 80 (2/5/12)

What do you mean by crossover questions?

    FAR - 68, 79
    AUD - 82
    REG - 71, 71, 80
    BEC - 76

    CMA
    Part 1: October 2013

Just took the BEC exam for the second time. It seemed like I had quite a few questions that covered topics that were not in my review. Anyone else think this? Also, i think they should change the title from BEC to COSO.

I took BEC in January and was worried about the adaptive testing when I finished. The first testlet was moderate, followed by two easy ones. I flagged ~5, 2, and 2 questions in each testlet that I was unsure of. I ended up with an 82, so they were only easy, because I over-prepared.. which is never a bad thing!

But future testers beware, they felt easy to me.. but a lot of the questions were tiny specifics and details that I made sure I studied this time around but skipped over the first time and failed!

    FAR 73 78
    BEC 73 82
    AUD 65 83
