    CPA88…

The calculations are easy. Just make a handful of flashcards with the calculations and do a lot of MCQs on them. MCQs on calculations are tricky because you can calculate something and the exam can ask 3-4 different types of Q's on them. I notice esp. on cost accounting.

Take msmeyers advice too. Make sure you understand what you're calculating and the meaning behind it.

The MCQs are a pain in the butt for calculations but the more you do the most easier they'll get.. do as many MCQs you can.

Hey Everyone – So I've passed FAR (76) and AUD (81) and I'm scheduled to take BEC at the end of January. I plan on studying with material from 2010. I know it's generally not a good idea to use outdated material, but I'm curious how much the exam has changed from 2010 to 2011/2012. It's not about the money, because I would gladly purchase newer books, but if there isn't a big change then I can't justify it. Were there specific areas of the exam which were completely eliminated from 2010? Please let me know and good luck to all! This exam is totally doable!!!

    AUD - 81 (6/2011)
    FAR - 76 (12/2011)
    BEC - 80 (6/2012)
    REG - 82 (8/2012)

Totally doable - just put in the work!

This is my first section of the CPA that i'm taking. Using becker, I thought B1 was tricky, but now I see that B1 was a breeze and B2 is alooooooooooooot of info. Now i see u guys are saying B2 is easy and B3 is difficult, will it end?! I'm going to work on the homework and do my best to master it, and ill see how well ive retained the millions of neumonics ive been forced to remember. the worst was aba bsa….ima busay??? SMH covering my eyes and diving in

I tackled BEC today and found it wasn't too harsh. I would guess out of all the mcqs, maybe 20 involved calculations, which I feared the most. That said, they were some of the more basic ones and weren't too difficult. The written portion wasn't too difficult either.

My biggest challenge was clicking on the appropriate button when I was finished instead of clicking on the “Quit” button. I posted in another thread about that hiccup.

    AUD- 80
    BEC- 70, 74, 80
    FAR- 72,75
    REG- 73,79 boooya!

@omolade, tbh, from what I'm experiencing, it gets harder towards the middle of studying because you're going to realize how much **** you need to memorize. BEC is basically all the undergrad classes we thought we're going to be useless (which they are for the most part) all into one exam. I'm about mid-point (finished all the lectures) and realize I didn't retain much info haha.. I need to go back and relearn a lot of stuff from a few weeks ago. MCQ is key oblivious.

I think towards the end it'll be easier. I am taking it one section at a time and breaking those section into smaller sections… just so they can be more manageable.
