Scrittrice34MemberHas anyone found that writing out the notes for BEC is more helpful than with other sections? I am only on my second section (still waiting for REG score), but I find this material extremely boring and cannot seem to get my mind to grasp it unless I am writing it out with my own hand. I feel like, for this reason, it is going to take me a huge amount of time to be prepared, but otherwise I just don't know how I will be able to retain this material.
Since I'm still pretty new to this, I'd be curious to hear if anyone else has found that particular studying strategies are more effective when tackling the BEC material as compared to the other sections.
Thanks!
REG - 86 (11/22/11)
BEC - 88 (1/9/12)
FAR - 79 (2/29/12)
AUD - 71 (5/7/12) - Got a little lazy. Retake 7/30/12 - 85 on the retake woohoo!Used Becker

AnonymousInactiveI took notes while watching the Becker lectures and it helped. It helped because I WROTE them, it took me so long to write the notes so I made sure that I looked at them, haha!!
But other than that, I just did non-stop MCQs, didn't even care about the WC until the day before.
So I would strongly suggest you write notes. Hope it works for you 🙂
Good Luck!!

NySinghCPA1985MemberI recently started studying for the BEC and based on some posts here, it appears that this one isn't gonna be an easy exam… I've just taken REG and i think it went pretty well… On the REG forums, some posted that there were about 10-12 pre-test questions and one pre-test simulation .. does anyone know if there are also any pre-test MCQ's on the BEC exam also?
Im studying with Becker… Should i consider studying any other software? any recomendations?
Thanks

Scrittrice34Member@atelery Thanks for the advice. I am finding that I am retaining the material a lot better by writing it, so I agree…I'm going to keep writing out the notes for BEC. It takes a huge amount of time, but hey I'd rather do that than have to take this exam again 🙂
Thanks and good luck to you as well this Wednesday! I hope your scores will be passing and you can be done with this thing!

Scrittrice34Member@InderSingh I am wondering the same regarding purchasing another product to supplement my Becker review course. I am already using Kaplan's mp3 review to listen to in the car. I find that to be a good reinforcement of what I am studying and I don't feel like my 1.5 hrs spent in the car every day are such a waste in my busy schedule.
I think it helps also to hear/see the material presented in a different format than just Becker alone. Because Kaplan presents the topics in a different order and explains the concepts differently, I find that it helps to truly get a grasp of the material instead of only memorizing Becker's layout/outline.
I am considering also buying the Wiley book, just to see if they explain the material differently. Has anyone ever tried this? I would love to hear whether or not that helps. Do they include different material or just explain it differently? Thanks!

Scrittrice34MemberNo prob! Wiley sells audio reviews also on CD. I think they're about the same price. I like the Kaplan because you can switch between topics more easily on your iPod than using CD.
