I took BEC yesterday and feel it was skewed more towards theory than calculations.

I definitely felt the “adaptive-ness”. The first section was very basic, and I remember wondering why i studied so much. I marked only one that was a 50-50 guess. I was feeling pretty good til the world flipped in section 2. I marked 18 that I wasn't sure on, and about half of those were complete guesses. 3rd section seemed more “average/hard” about on par with what I experienced in Beckers final exams. I was now way behind on time tho and went thru them quickly with no review so if there were many tricks I didn't catch them. I entered the memo's with only 23 minutes and wrote very short essays.

This was my first CPA exam section, and I feel pretty foolish for letting time get away from me like that. My advice to other “first-timers” would be that in that first section, if you have some extra time don't use it just because you can. I kept reviewing my first section because I felt like I needed to use 45 minutes, but that was just wasted time. I personally will aim for 30 minutes part 1 and give myself an hour for part 2 next time.

Just took my first part, BEC, on 11/21. now awaiting the score. Didnt do well on the 2nd and 3rd parts because I didnt have enough time answering all the questions. So I chose a couple of random answers. Also I didn't do well in the writing simulations. Time was burning out fast! Now I'm worried. >.<

    Full-Time Studying.
    Using Becker.

I took BEC yesterday. I Failed and I have accepted it. I am retaking that bad boy in April. I have to start studying for REG. My exam also seemed more geared towards theory. I used up my 3 hours. I had 3 minutes left when I wrote my last essay. I was short and direct. So it will be back to the drawing board.

I cant wait for this to be over.

@MOMCPA2B – Hang in there. Even if it didn't work out this time, you'll get it next time!

    Question for the forum:

Just took a BEC final exam in Becker and received the following scores on the first 3 testlets:

    66, 66, 75

I feel pretty comfortable with the writing portion, so I didn't complete those (need sleep!). My problem is that I have trouble trying to figure out how indicative those Becker final exam scores are of how I will do on the actual test. I know that the CPA exam uses a weighted scoring format based on difficulty of the given questions instead of straight percentages, but if anyone could tell me how their Becker results compared to their actual testing experience, please let me know.

I think I know some of the areas I need to brush up on before sitting for BEC on Wednesday, but I'm pretty nervous about this one…

I just rescheduled my exam that I was supposed to take this afternoon….

I feel guilty but….I just know I am not ready yet. I'm not where I want to be on the formulas. As I was studying over the past week I was realizing I don't have them memorized. I just didn't feel confident.

I'm using Yaeger and sometimes I wish they just spent the whole time doing MCQ's instead of just reading Wiley book page by page.

I wanted to start studying for FAR by now but now I will have to push that to late January.

It's official! I just went to my Wiley Software and chose to do 30 mcqs that I “haven't seen yet” and it told me there were no questions that meet my criteria! WOW! I can't believe I've done that may questions! So, why don't I feel like I'm ready for this test yet?????? 🙁

    FAR- 63, 75
    AUD- 61, 78
    REG- 63, 74, 80
    BEC - 63, 61, 75!!!!! I'm done!!!!

What I can Say about this exam is that it is difficult to hone in on what they will test. I mean my exam had minimal calculations. Its not like the other exams, you study one particular area and break it down. BEC seems like all the leftovers crammed into one.lol Dont just memorize the calculations but know the relationships between them. I can honestly say that I didnt like this exam but now that I have sat for it I have a better idea of what to expect. Im not as afraid of the written portion. I was fearful before but not anymore. So to all my fellow BECers. Take a deep breath.

@Swan you are right there. Im excited for you.

I cant wait for this to be over.
