What are you referring to when you say you need to know bond schedules for BEC??]
I know that we need to know discount bond information for the WACC, etc. (stated interest rate to the effective interest rate and the coupon payment to the actual value of the bond), etc. but is there something else out there that I am missing?
F - 5/8/13 81
R - 74, 2/7/14 86
B - 74, 12/6/13 82
A - 70, 11/4/14 89!!!I'm done 🙂 Many thanks to Jeff, A71 and Roger CPA!!!

kemcpa2011MemberTaking BEC tomorrow at 1:30. Since it's my first section and I've rescheduled sections about 5 times and my company is paying for the first time I'm just going to just bite the bullet and do it. I'm definitely not prepared enough but I have tried my hardest considering the obstacles I've faced recently. Plus I figured even if I don't pass, at least I gained the experience of what to expect when taking a prometric/cpa exam.
Any last minute tips? Especially on the calculations like cost accounting, budgeting, and the financial measurements – trying to get as many of those understood but to anyone who has taken BEC before what did you see the most of?
I gave up thanksgiving for this… ugh.

SwanCPAMember@kemcpa2011 I take it on November 30th. Hopefully this will be my last exam even though I'm not feeling it at this point. 🙁 I have worked so hard at this and I am still having problems with all of the calculations. I have taken this exam before (last year so it's not too fresh) but I truly feel like it could go any way as far as calculations go. Some people get alot of them others get mostly theory. I've got the theory down but man when I have to work it out….I have no idea how I will finish in 3 hours. I feel like these calculations take forever even when it's one you know by heart!!! How can we get through it all? As far as the written communication goes, I haven't worked on it a bit. 🙁
Sorry, you asked for tips and I'm just sharing in your venting. 🙂 I gave up Black Friday today! Yuck!
I guess for the calculations just put them on flash cards like you're in 3rd grade learning your multiplcation facts again… go over and over and over until you get it right!
Good luck tomorrow!!!

kemcpa2011MemberTook BEC yesterday… and my first section of the CPA exam. It was a good mix of calculations and theory questions. I don't think I passed, there were about 5 questions in each testlet I really struggled on. People talk about testlets getting harder but mine seemed to have some hard questions but then some easy ones too so I don't know.
I thought I did really great on the WCs though and was happy with the outcome of those.
What do you all think?

kemcpa2011Member@CPAgirl21… the writing section was a lot like what the becker examples showed (not sure if you're using becker or not). They were all memos addressed to different people in business with different levels of accounting expertise. It's hard to prepare for because they can test you on any topic (one of mine was totally unrelated to anything BEC related… had to dig waaay deep down into my brain for stuff from intermediate accounting for it) but they're looking at how you structure your response. Politeness, conciseness, and sticking to the topic is key. Looking at examples I'd say is the best way to prepare. Honestly though, as long as you don't say “up yours board of directors” or something awful like that you should be fine! lol
