future_cpa1Member@ Raptors: I am also taking BEC right before you ( 1/20/2012), and have been using Wiley test banks to spot test my scoring range. About once a week, I do about 35 m/c from the entire range and see what I am getting. Still not sure exactly how to study for the Written Communications. I do several written communications a week (probably 3-5) and study tips on writing the communications themselves but beyond that… ?
Overall, from Becker review materials, I am consistently averaging 200-225 multiple choice a week from all sections combined and testing in Wiley seems to be showing pretty high scores so far. There are several very specific areas I still need to put emphasis on.. 4 variance OH into 3 variance into 2 variance thingy, written communications about exchange rate gains/losses, a bit more on IT, and memorizing some of the required equations for this section.
I took the cpa exam over 2007/2008/2009 and missed becoming a CPA by 3 points on BEC. I wont make that mistake again. This time its the first section to be passed, no exceptions.

ToCPA2011MemberI would practice as many MC questions as possible. Since you have some time until next Jan, you may look into WC. But I am with future_cpa1, there is not much to study for WC.

heatmiserMemberWho else here is surprised how hard BEC is? I thought this was supposed to be easy, which is why I intentionally left it for the last one for me to pass. Now that I have passed all the others, I can legitimately say this test is just as hard (at least it seems that way studying for it with Becker). Chapters 3 & 5 are killer on calculations.
Glad I have till October 2012 to knock this last test out.

iPassMember@future_cpa1, Cost Accounting, Managerial Finance and Capital Budgeting are the topics that kept me awake and focused through BEC, and I have to admit I think I would really enjoy doing something like that for a job. Weird, I know π But to each its own. Also, I believe this is the core of BEC. You have plenty of time to prepare (same goes to raptors).
As to WC, totally agree with ToCPA2011 & atelery, concentrate on MC instead. Good luck!
BEC - 10/12/2011 - 78
AUD - 11/23/2011 - 84
FAR - 02/22/2012 - 76 (I'll take it!)
REG - 08/31/2012ΒWin as if you were used to it, lose as if you enjoyed it for a change.Β
