QuinacridoneMemberI just rescheduled…I'm going to take Audit on April 5 instead of April 16. Goodness – I can't believe I just did that. I took a practice test in A6 tonight closed book and got an 86%. I'm still weak in A4 (transaction cycles, tests, ect.) – got a 75% in that section. Two sections (A3 and A5) I got 100%. I think I can shore up A4 this week. I hope I can.
Financial ratios are still the bane of my existence. My practice test had 3 financial ratios on it (and I missed all three). I need to get those down. I don't do anything with financial ratios in my work so have never bothered with them.

ruggercpa2bParticipantAccording to PCAOB auditing standards, in reporting whether a previously reported material weakness continues to exist, the auditor may appropriately issue
A. An unqualified or qualified opinion.
B. An unqualified or adverse opinion.
C. An unqualified opinion or a disclaimer of opinion.
D. An unqualified opinion, a qualified opinion, an adverse opinion, or a disclaimer of opinion.
The Answer is C.
Explanation : Paragraph 43 of AS #4 states, “any limitations on the scope of the auditor's work require the auditor either to disclaim an opinion or to withdraw from the engagement. A qualified opinion is not permitted.”
Can someone explain to me why the answer is C. How do we determine from the question that this is a scope limitation?

AnonymousInactiveDear Rugger,
I think because the auditor is not sure whether the prevoiusly reported material exist or not in the current period, limitation of scope exist.

GroudParticipantphilosophical question:
I have a NTS for AUD and FAR and scheduled AUD for April 1, and scheduled FAR for last day of May. I have put in about 100 hours of AUD study over the last month. I have a decent grasp on the material but would probably get a 70 if I took it today. If I took FAR today I would probably get a 50.
I have 8 days until my AUD exam and my only goal is to pass that first. I have seen some success from people that push their exams back and just keep studying.
My question is, should I push back the AUD exam an extra week to hopefully raise the chance of passing, while taking a week away from my FAR studying? Or maybe reschedule FAR for the next window in early July?

yourmomsaCPAParticipantI wouldn't take the week away from FAR. Plus, it's not like you haven't done a fair share of studying for AUD. My review course suggests 90 hours. I would absolutely take it as scheduled. You never know the combo of questions they will throw at you (you said you had a pretty good grasp of the material. That's WAY more confident than I was going into FAR). Just think, at the beginning of June, you could be HALFWAY finished!

QuinacridoneMemberGroud, have you taken any practice exams? Its a great way to get an objective idea of where you are with the material. I think if you are scoring consistently above 80, you should be fine on the first. I'm on the fence about my last test (BEC) as far as whether I'll take it in May or wait till July (I have a 3 week vacation in May, so I either have to do it before I go, or just wait till June to start studying).
FAR is a beast! I didn't think I would ever get all of the material stuffed in my head!

QuinacridoneMemberIvr21, that is hilarious! You must be a financial auditor!
I LOVE auditing, but what I do is really different than what most auditors do (I'm not sure that I would enjoy only doing financial audits). I audit the Department of Defense… which means that I get to do everything from climbing on fighter jets to auditing military hospitals (performance/operational audits along with financial audits). Every 6-8 weeks, its like getting a completely new job. Its the best job in accounting! The challenging part of my job though is the amount of law I have to know. We have to do an incredible amount of research.
