Took REG today. It was a nightmare!!! - Page 13

Lucky for me, my Prometric center was open today after being closed for 3 days due to the hurricane. At first, I was hoping they’d be open on my test day. While my wish came true, I now wish they were closed. This test was a nightmare. I’ve gone over EVERYTHING in the Wiley book and everything Phil Yaeger highlighted. About 70% of the material I painstakingly studied were not on the freakin’ test!! I had to stop for a moment to wonder if I was even taking the right exam. About half of my multiple choice questions came out of left field. However, my Simulations weren’t so bad, which is something not many people here said. It was the mutiple choice that I found difficult. And I don’t even know if the testlets got harder. All 3 Multiple Choice testlets were extremely hard, IMHO. I’m so screwed. Here I was studying for 300 hours and I’m probably going to end up with a nice big fat 50!!! I’m so depressed. I don’t understand why the CPA exam is like this. It’s supposed to be on material that’s covered in the Wiley book. But it looks like they are testing on material that Wiley and Yaeger didn’t even cover.

In order to pass this, I’d either have to be one heck of a lucky guy or there’s going to be a nice big curve. But I seriously doubt this will happen. So, I’m expecting to have to retake REG. I’m at a loss for words right now. I don’t even know if any additional studying would’ve helped. I’m so annoyed. This is ridiculous!!

Sorry, I just had to vent.

I thought Becker was pretty good for Reg…

Yvonne I agree with you about Becker and Reg. They identified one topic as ancillary and I think I probably had 6 questions on it. Also, I dont like how Becker is setting up there questions. Such as exchanges in reg, they give you about 20 different questions, but they are all set up in the same format, so when I get into the test, any quesitons outside of that norm, throw me for a loop.

Try Exam Matrix – they covered everything for REG and then some. The format is easy to follow, has a built-in wizard to identify soft areas. No Videos or Audio, just a book and some really good software imo. I don't work for them I swear.

I willing to try anything to pass REG I was going to get Roger cram which uses wiley (I already have that) so basically I am paying just for the lectures. how good is good with exam matrix? what was your REG score?

    FAR 76
    REG 76(2x)
    BEC FAILED (2x)
    AUD FAILED (2x)

ey CPAman, I just got my score today. I failed reg with a 68 but I got comparable on SIM which is a complete joke because 90% of my answers were straight up GUESSES. And I mean COMPLETE guesses, I was just picking random numbers between 1000-10,000

    BEC- 80
    REG- 68, 71, July
    AUD- 61 , 84
    FAR- -- 75 🙂

I tried and failed with Exam Matrix (not REG, but FAR and BEC). Passed with CPAexcel. In my opinion, CPAexcel is a better bang for your buck. At least worth trying the free trial before making any decisions.

    FAR: 71, 77
    BEC: 70, 82
    AUD: 62, 78
    REG: 71, 68, 85

I just took REG and I feel exactly how CPAMan felt on his first attempt. I'm praying for a 75 but will probably fail miserably. I got assigned locker #74 at prometric and I can only hope that's not an omen.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

OMG. LOL Kasia, locker 74. That's pretty funny. I'm sure you may have passed but not in the 80s. Just 75 probably feels like a fail to you considering your high scores.

    AUD - Passed:)
    FAR - Passed:)
    REG - Retake TBD
BEC - Missed by 3 points Retake TBD

@yvonne, I did chuckle a little when I saw the number on the key. And to be honest, every pass is a victory regardless of the score itself. All I ever care about is a 75; anything more means I studied too much lol.

Just got out of REG a couple hours ago and I'm not sure what to think. I passed FAR, AUD, and BEC during the July/August testing period and needed to knock REG out to finish these damn tests. Walking out of the test I defiantly know I missed some questions which I knew the answers to which is very frustrating and the SIMS like everyone else has said were a challenge. The bad news is, unlike the others which I passed, the 3rd MC testlet got easier. I think overall the MC went Med, Hard, Easy, and the Sims ranged from easy to extremely difficult.

What do you guys think my chances are? I am going to keep studying till I get my score cause I'm worried compared to the others. I did bust my butt to study and defiantly put in the time/pain to pass, but don't think I will be lucky enough.

    FAR – 76

    BEC – 86

    AUD – 84

    REG – ?

@jrob9201: I wouldn't worry about the difficulty of the testlets. I always felt like my testlets were about the same (more or less overall) and I've scored pretty well, especially on REG–probably had two difficult testlets. Just focus on getting through the MC's and doing your best. Even on REG I had no idea how the questions were progressing, and in my case they were probably in the “difficult” category and I had no clue. If they seemed the same, then you were probably just well prepared. Good luck!

    BEC 86 (08/30/11)
    FAR 84 (10/13/11)
    REG 88 (11/08/11)

I found CPAexcel cumbersome to use. Exam Matrix seemed to prepare me very well. I get my score 12/7. There was very little on the exam that I felt was out of left field except one very strange trust question. Two of the SIMS where very long and time consuming but approachable. There are no video's with Exam Matrix just a book and some inteligent software that tracks your weak areas and prepares little miny 30 question tests for you. I also used the cpareviewforfree questions, which were much harder than the exam. I am also using the same software for BEC and will supplement with a cram like Roger or Yaeger, just no sure which one yet. Need help with variances.

@InderSingh, this is a uniform exam so it's the same across all states. Not everyone gets the same exact exam, but your state has nothing to do with it.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)
