I’ve had a few requests for April/May Study Groups…March will be here before you know it.

In order to take an early April exam, you should begin studying…now. 🙂

    @ Finishorgiveup,

Sorry for my late reply 🙁

I am half way done with Corp Wiley book MCQs.

Still doing lot of mistakes in MCQs after taking notes while watching lectures, NINJA notes.

I am not satisfied in my progress so, now I am reading Wiley book (Module 38) to make everything stick to my head.

    How about your progress going?

@keneda, …when i started for April …i was weak at sims…and at AMT totally….now i am still weak at AMT…bcoz can't find enough mcqs or sim………i am doing 87% and above on mcqs…but i was doing that well even when i failed…i am ok on trusts/and so-so on ethics.. .I can't find any other way to practice sims other than keep doing the same again and again…. this time i have too much pressure …as giving 3rd time…if i don't pass, i will want to hide myself somewhere dark so no one can ask me that Question of passed or failed

@Qlad I feel the same way about taking REG for the third time…especially after getting a 74 like you. That is such a cruel score to give out…

Corporate tax, Partnership tax, AMT, etc. I feel pretty confident with Business Law and Individual tax. What about you? My plan from here on out is to work 150 MCQ's and 2 SIM's per weekday and as much as possible on the weekends. Most of the review will be on the Tax sections. I also have another practice exam scheduled for Saturday morning. I wanted to rewrite my notes but I feel like I never budget enough time to rewrite everything. What's your strategy for this one? When's your exam?

my exam is on thursday…did sims so many times…i remember them…re writing notes right now…tomorrow the plan is to do the sims that i get stuck on…done with all practice exams…so i will focus on trusts/AMT/ Corp….and some unimportant topics like tax credits…don't want to miss any topic…i must have some knowledge about all topics if i have to pass…that's how i feel…

    FAR 72,71,81 🙂
    AUD 64,71, 72, 75 🙂 I'm done !!!

@golfball773 WOW! you are way ahead of me. I am in Business Law on the agency lessons. I'll be finishing that up tonight. Do you just run through the videos or are you reading and doing MCQ? I created a study plan and my expected finish date with videos and MCQ is 4/19. I have myself reading, watching videos and doing the MCQs on average about 4 lessons a day with the exception of the weekend.

How are you getting through the material? Thanks for any advice.

    AUD - 70 4/22/13, 10/19/2013 83 🙂
    BEC - 7/15/2013, 78:)
    FAR - 2/24/2014, 80 🙂
    REG - 5/19/2014

Technically, I feel we are roughly in the same place. I am following the ninja method. I am just watching the videos of CPA Excel to get a generally overview and then it will start to make sense when I can just knock out random MCQ day after day in study mode. This way I can see why something is wrong and right instantly. I have a feeling if I did the MCQ right after the videos, I would not remember the stuff come May 17th.

    @TargetCPA

I spent lots of time on corporation, I feel okay with S corp, but, corporation was one of my weakness.

I need to work on wiley questions and start focus on simulation.

    AUD - 8/31/14
    FAR - target 11/30/14

Can somebody explain to me this question?

Robert had current-year AGI of $100,000 and potential itemized deductions as follows:

Medical expenses (before percentage limitations) $12,000

    State income taxes 4,000

    Real estate taxes 3,500

Qualified housing and residence mortgage interest 10,000

Home equity mortgage interest(used to consolidate

    personal debts) 4,500

    Charitable contributions (cash) 5,000

WHAT ARE ROBERT'S ITEMIZED DEDUCTIONS FOR ALTERNATIVE MINIMUM TAX?

    The answers is:

    Med expenses 2,000

    Qualified housing interest 10,000

    Charitable contributions 5,000

    Total 17,000

My question is: Isn't AMT only adding back home equity interest and never adding back charitable contribution? Am I understanding the question wrong? My answer would have been the 2,000 medical expenses + state income taxes + real estate taxes + home equity interest to be added back for AMT purpose.

The question is a little confusing, but it's asking what deductions can be taken for AMT. Taxes are added back, but medical (after 10% agi), qualified housing and charity can all still be deducted from the AMTI. Hope that makes sense.

    Folks,

How significant is the business law section in REG? (not the professional responsibility)

I am an enrolled agent so tax stuffs are pretty okay for me but I've been struggling the business law section/

I am thinking of ditching it for the time constraint because I will be taking AUD, REG, and BEC all together in May.

    FAR-82!
    REG-82 Again!
    BEC-78!
    AUD-84!

Done with the exam and LICENSED in VA as of 11/17/2015.

Sat for REG for the first time yesterday. I can't say too much without compromising myself or the content on the exam, but be prepared for some rather difficult simulations!! I walked out of there not feeling confident at all. Hoping for the best, obviously. But also expecting the worst : Best of luck to all of you. I may be back on here in a month when I find out the results! Moving on to FAR next!

The 2 exams I've taken so far (FAR and AUD) both had brutal simulations, and I was really hoping this would be the one where I could just know all of them and not have to worry. Looks like that was just a dream! It's tough because they're really hard to prepare for…even practicing them on Becker or through other study materials, if you get a different subject, you could be totally out of luck.

Actually did worse on my second REG practice exam (67) than my first (70). Taking into account the 10 point boost I've gotten the past two exams…I'm way too borderline at this point, with test day in 2 days. Still plan on taking it easy tomorrow, so looks like I'll be in the books for the rest of the day. Good luck to anyone taking the test this week!

    DONE!
