I plan on starting my study plan the week before filing deadline 4/6/13. Though I don't think I will get a lot of great time in I can knock out a few topics and focus hard 4/17 – 5/29.
I will be using my 2011 Kaplan materials which expire 6/1/14 and some other various tax materials I have laying around my office for 2013 tax updates.
This is my last test needed in order to get my CPA! I passed it back in Nov. 2011 but then it fell out of my 18 month window 🙁 I've taken it twice since, Q4 2013 and Q1 2014. I received a 74 and a 70. I'm super close to passing I just need to focus my attention on weak areas and do MCQ until I'm sick of it. I'm using CPA Excel, supplementing w/ NINJA notes and possibly purchasing Wiley Test Bank. Haven't decided yet.
Hey guys – I'm studying for Reg with Yaeger (which comes with WTB) and Ninja Notes. Phil said in the videos we didn't need to know phase out thresholds, phase out rates, or the tax tables line by line. Have any of you (using other programs) received the same advice? I'm just wondering if we encountered a tax sim if that very specific information would be provided in another tab?
I'm using Yaeger, too, but looking at the CSOs for REG, it seems like it's more important to know how to USE the tables, not to have the content memorized. Knowing how to arrive at taxable income and apply tax rates, all that.
I'm planning on REG 4/28 – take the tax season to study bit by bit and then I'll have about two weeks to cram after things slow down here. So far so good, I'm actually feeling good about the material thus far!
I'll be attacking REG April 25th. I have a full arsenal of material for it. I am taking 3 cpexcel classes for credit for this beast(individual tax, corporate tax, and business law). I also have Becker 2014 materials. I plan to use cpaexcel as my core course for reading and learning the material, but also try to attack every multiple choice question and Sim in Becker.
I am hoping to pass AUD, so I don't have to push REG back to May. Either way I am taking everything I learned and everything I did wrong from studying for the first two exams to prepare a killer study routine to dominate REG in Q2.
I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:
"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"
I studied REG in 5/13 and then went onto BEC, and made it my goal to pass. I have a decent knowledge with REG. Just wondering, should I order to 2014 book or just study the 2013 one I have?
For those of you using Becker materials and followed the Ninja Method of studying, how'd you feel about not doing any MCQ until 3 weeks or later into your studying? Something about not doing any MCQ other than those alone in the lectures scares me….
@Justanothercandidate – I did that for AUD and I really liked it, actually. It confirmed for me that I KNEW the material, not that I could just barf back what I'd heard in the lecture a day before.
This will be my last exam and i hope it doesn't kill me. I really thought i would have to retake BEC but thank god i passed. I'll be taking REG sometime in Apr…I'll start studying soon.
