how many regulators are filing extensions on their tax return?

I did mine a few weeks back on tax act & when I got to the part where I owe – I was in no rush to file. Now that I've been studying I want to take more time with my return & so I think I'm doing an extension & review it after my test?

    What about you guys?

    FAR 11/2012: 80
    AUD 2/19/2013: 90
    REG 5/14/2013: 76
    BEC 11/2013: 85
    Ethics: 100
    Waiting on the packet....

You do know that filing an extension is just an extension to file and NOT an extension to pay, right? You still need to pay what you owe by Monday or it will cost you more $$$$.

BHDave10. Yes. I am aware and I have paid. I just wanted to have more time to carefully review it when I was not immersed in CPA studying.

the most confusing statement I have come across in reg (to me anyway) is regarding the dividends received deduction….

isn't there a better way to state the timeline requirements than: “more than 45 days during the 91 day period beginning on the date 45 days before the ex-dividend date of the stock” – – and the preferred is even more fun…. “in excess of 366 days & the stock has been held for less than 91 days during the 181 day period that begins 90 days before the stock becomes ex-dividend…”

my brain melts when I try to grasp those 2 timing statements – – anyone have a better way to state it? in english?!!

Good luck to all of you taking your exam this week! I am REG re-taker as well, and am desperately trying to get myself refocused. I think the hardest part about retaking this exam is knowing how to re-study. I don't want to study the same way as before because then I'll only pickup the same material, can any of other re-takers tell me what you are doing differently this time around?

This is my 3rd time (so depressing to type it). The 1st time I used Becker full review course, 2nd time Becker Final Review + Wiley Test Bank, 3rd time- thinking of re-reading all my written notes from Becker, continuing to do Wiley Test Bank questions, and adding Ninja Audio. Thoughts?

And if I needed any other reason to stress out, I have to pass this one this next time otherwise I lose FAR……what a nightmare!

Any help/motivation would be GREATLY appreciate 🙂

If you do not have it get the NINJA notes and rewrite them and reread them. I would also highly recommend the NINJA audio and listen to them as many times as possible. When you are doing MC take notes on why the answer is right and what makes the other answers wrong and go back through those and rewrite them. Drill MC like your life depends on it. That is what I am doing and as depressing as it is to write this will be my 3rd time taking it as well. After doing all that I mentioned above I can honestly say I feel like I know a lot more information than I did the last time I took it. Hope that helps!

@smp73 – thank you so much for your response. I do have Ninja notes but before now I was just reading them, not re-writing so I will definitely do that. I'm just realizing though I purchased the notes back in the fall of 2012, do you or anyone know whether these have been updated since then?

Writing out and really understanding why a MC question is right or wrong totally makes sense and seems like the best way to nail it. I like that both of these tactics are different than what I did before, because at least it mixes things up. Thanks again, I feel motivated all ready!

Best of luck to you, I have a feeling the 3rd time will definitely be a charm for us both 🙂

@MACPA email Jeff for an update. I believe there are free updates for all NINJA stuff. I was not doing all of what I mentioned the first two times I took the test so it was also my way of switching it up. Hopefully it pays off!

@lvr21 the day before my exams I do practice MC in the morning until 1 or 2 and then review any key notes in the afternoon. Around 5 I put it all away and go do something outside or go to the gym and relax for the evening.

    Just a quick check in!

I agree NINJA notes are such a huge help! I read and some time rewrite them as well!

The day before i do light MCQ and try to relax which is really hard for me but i go to bed early and get a good nights sleep. I try not to stress myself out if i don't know it 12 hours before and try to learn it i end up getting really anxious and not being able to sleep or focus the next day

    Happy studying Sunday!

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

Alright, my exam is tomorrow afternoon! I'm going to read my little one a story before going to be so i can get a good nights sleep. I think i'll do a light review tomorrow morning before my test. I hope you all have the willpower to push through and study hard and that you all pass your tests! Thanks for all the help, suggestions and encouragement.

    I'm here…I'm here…

I read somewhere on the forum about type I, type II, and type III members. I want to be that member with positive posts, so been a little quiet. Aren't ya glad!? 😀

I've discovered studying while traveling is really hard. I am thoroughly enjoying my job, but man I need to stay home for a month. I'm actually thinking of requesting to stay back and let the controller handle it this next time. (As much as it pains me to let go…I love that little company!)

Anyway, I'm here, I'm studying and I'm with ya. Go team!

    Good Luck Mel!
