ParticipantI saw a thread like this for 2018, so I’m starting a new one for 2019.
Here’s where I’m at so far:
1/7/19 — mailed in full application form along with check, except for work experience certificate
1/9/19 – delivered to CBA (based on UPS tracking #)
as of now – check not cashed yet
Heard the CBA is very slow – let’s see how long it will take…

ParticipantGlad I emailed them, today I received the email with my number, officially a CPA now!! Took me 3 years from start to finish but it was worth it! Sent in my application in the beginning of January so process for application took almost exactly 2 months once I submitted everything.

Participant@Todd – did you have to send transcripts, or are they able to just use the ones sent in the beginning to take the exam?
Did you send your LiveScan with the application? I am waiting on my old boss to send me the work experience paper filled out, he said he sent it but I haven't gotten it yet. Ethics is passed. argh!
March 21, 2019 at 5:25 pm #2276808Todd
ParticipantI passed the exams in 2017, but had to take extra classes to get the 150 credits for the license. I had the school send my updated transcripts directly to the cba at the end of December. I also had my boss mail my work experience paperwork in 2017. Before I sent my application and $250 I made sure all boxes were checked off so there wouldn't be any hiccups in the application process. I took the ethics exam beginning of January and I went to the police station for the live scan, which I mailed separately to the cba. I ended up mailing my criminal background check paperwork with my application and $250 check.

ParticipantI am planning to complete the accounting ethics course through UCLA or UCSD. However, the course is 4 quarter units which are equivalent to 2.66 semester credit. Do i need 0.34 more credits???
March 25, 2019 at 10:55 am #2281209William
Participant@Mak – The 4 quarter units satisfies the accounting ethics requirement. I believe it is an either/or scenario. I took the course through UCSD and it was go at your own pace. So depending on your schedule, you could complete everything in a few weeks, then just wait for them to post grades.

ParticipantHi everyone! I am getting ready to mail out my application for my license today…I hope I'm not forgetting anything!
1/31/19 passed last exam (FAR!)
3/2/19 passed ethics
3/27/19 (today) mailing out license applicationI have my signed experience form going out with my application and my check, plus the criminal conviction disclosure form, and I did my live scan on Monday. Thinking about taking everything to the post office and sending it certified (don't trust post office they suck!)
Did you all send your stuff certified?
March 27, 2019 at 9:42 am #2285289Kimberly
Participant@terrisilva – Not in CA, but I sent all of my license application materials certified with return receipt. I was paranoid something would get lost. I think it's a good thought to do so – that way you know for sure it's arrived. Good luck!
