    Hi all,

Thought I would start up this thread if anyone else is sending in their CA license application around this time. I will keep it updated and hope to help anyone else going through the same process. I really hope I get my license by 12/31/13 so I can truly say I am class of 2013! Sent my paperwork in via certified mail – return receipt. Now the waiting game begins…..

There's a high school that's supposed to be built nearby. It has been about 4 years and it's still just a vacant plot of land (they finally started moving some of the dirt around). It would have been so convenient if it were ready in time for my son to start high school (he just started this year) but alas.

    Come on CA!

Oh, but I happen to get very good service from the BOE whenever I call. Only agency I don't mind calling!

Runnerup – that's good to hear about BOE since that's where I work. 🙂

Everything else sucks… government agencies are so inefficient. Exactly why I want to change jobs…

    Update:

Received the approval letter from CBA today 1/11/14 (dated 1/8/14 and stamped 1/9/14). Exactly eight weeks from the day I mailed out my application package.

Need to send in $120 to put those three letters after my name. Guess it is just the beginning of a new journey…

Best luck for those still waiting and hope you get yours soon ; )

Eight weeks!?! Yikes. I just sent mine in on 12/30… guess I still have a fair amount of waiting to do.

@jfreelov: I think the 12/31 deadline and holidays affected my application, so probably yours will be more smooth.

So I sent my updated experience form 1/10… anyone want to make bets how long it will take for them to finish up my application?! Haha…. They have everything but that one form, when I spoke to the lady there I asked if I could send it directly to her, she said no that would actually increase the possibility of it getting lost!!

I'm so glad to read this thread and know I'm not alone in the waiting game.

I am in SC and mailed my application and check November 6. The check was cashed that same week and my online status was “received/pending”.

After a month I called to check on it and they told me they have everything and it looks good… but I have to wait on the Board of Accountancy to meet on January 23 to “approve” all the applicants.

Ugh – it's just a formality. Come on!

So I came on here to see if SC was the only whack state, but CA sounds about as bad.

It still beats waiting for scores though :))))))))

I got the letter saying they received all my documents (again) and to wait 4-6 weeks. This time I doubt it will take that long since they have reviewed everything else already.

Tough_kitty – did you get your 30 day letter?

Another letter?? That sucks. I haven't received anything yet but I submitted the application with my work address because I didn't want my home address to be public, so now I get all correspondence from them at work! Will have to see if I got anything this week, and if not, I might have to call them and ask for an update.

I put off the application process for a while since I needed a break after I took my last exam. But now I really need to get the ball rolling.

I passed the ethics exam this weekend and just mailed my work experience form yesterday. I know I still need to do the live scan. For that, do I just go to a location and they will send the results in for me? Or is there more I have to do?

After I do that, I just need to fill out the application and send it along with a check and photo, correct? Anything I'm missing?

After I send in my last app, do I just wait to hear that they received everything?

    Thanks for the help..

Sarita – I did a passport picture to send with mine(looked a lot like a mug shot but hey hopefully it worked lol). I just went to a live scan place in the city I live, they give you a page to send in with your application and then send the results to CBA directly. I personally sent live scan form, application & release of background check together. Ethics exam gets over to them by CalCPA.

    Hope this helps!

You might want to do some research before you go to the life scan location. Their fees vary a lot. I found the cheapest one for $19. That's their fee on top of the government fee they charge for fingerprinting.
