    Hi all,

    Thought I would start up this thread if anyone else is sending in their CA license application around this time. I will keep it updated and hope to help anyone else going through the same process. I really hope I get my license by 12/31/13 so I can truly say I am class of 2013! Sent my paperwork in via certified mail – return receipt. Now the waiting game begins…..

    Yeah, I bet it all depends on a person processing your application…. I know I work better (faster) as an auditor comparing to some of my co-workers šŸ˜‰

    @littlenumberrobot – Same here, I waited 3 weeks for the yellow postcard. I have mailed my application middle of Nov 2013. Don't know how long I have to wait to get my 30 days status letter. Just want to get my license soon.

    Due to my transcript fiasco, everything is good to go once I hit two years with my firm(tomorrow). Then I send new work experience and wait for them to process it to send me the letter asking for more money.

    @tough_kitty:

    Sent mine in mid Nov, but have not received my 30-day letter yet.

    However, I emailed CBA last Friday (1/3/14) and a lady replied and indicated that they'd received everything they need and told me to wait 2-4 weeks.

    Still nothing by mail other than the small yellow “we received your application” postcard. A little bit strange, isn't it?

    @littlenumberrobot: I see…I actually JUST noticed your post about your credits from a few weeks ago….Sorry to hear that but at least it got fixed and you'll be a CPA soon!!!

    @CChen: Thanks for the update….that's NOT good news! šŸ™ I am trying to find a tax preparer job but I don't see it happening without a CPA license…will have to stick with VITA for now, just for some more experience….

    @tough_kitty: I think that means they want me to wait another 2-4 weeks for the approval (or any other outcome) by mail. (NO 30-day letter is really strange). Hang in there. You don't need the license to get a tax job, trust me : )

    @CChen: Yeah….some firms want CTEC/EA/CPA license + experience….and some want a high school diploma šŸ˜› ….H&R Block for instance….not sure I am the best candidate for that one šŸ˜‰

    @tough_kitty: Correct me if I am wrong – I think usually the manager level or above positions in public accounting require CPA licenses.

    Oh, well, I am trying to find a part-time/seasonal position and that's what they require….I am not interested in a full-time tax preparer position at this time….

    Update:

    Received the 30-day letter yesterday 1/9/14 (the letter dated 1/2/14 though stamped 1/6/14), roughly eight weeks after I mailed out the application in mid-Nov.

    Wow. That's weird. Maybe they have someone slow working on your case… Let's see if I hear anything next week. My 30 day update is due Monday.

    Not me. I'm very efficient with my audits šŸ˜‰ but everything else – yes….. HR messing up my salary and vacation time and taking forever to fix it….roads being “worked on” for years….and a park in my neighborhood apparently takes more than 6 yrs to build…. crazy.

    @tough_kitty – You are a rarity. In all my dealings with the FTB or CBA, the process is always SLOW!
