@kappa1032 I think that is normal…. DV LIFO does the same thing to me.

@texasgirl I calculated the correct answer as well after pulling up my notes based off of CPA Excel…. the key here is you have to calculate year 2 before you would realize that the conversion of year 3 to base year cost would be a liquidation. With DV Liquidation you would reduce prior layer using the prior year index rate. (Last-In First Out)

@j.ford thanks for the explanation. I think I have problem with “liquidation”. I use becker review and didn't see this term.

So, I have started listening to Roger's lectures and they are so easy to understand . Even the practice questions – I am able to crack them the first time. Is it okay or should I change my study material?

Thanks! I'm in F4 and just saw the Retail Method…I don't know if I'll spend time looking over that considering the amount of other material we need to know.

Also, this is a basic question but how do people estimate/know when the score releases will be for Q3? I'm new to this. I'm scheduled for July 21.

I've had 1 retail method question on my exam…… I think. It all kind of blends together. Its best to read the appendixes over, not really crucial.

Does anyone have a quick and easy way to remember when LIFO is used in rising prices that the COGS go up and EI go down along with Income, vice versus for decreasing prices and FIFO?

I have a little chart, but its tough to commit to memory.

@BSwetie – if you write it down a bunch of times, it helped me. Memorize just one and the rest are just opposites.

Rising Prices: LIFO = lowest EI – highest COGS – lowest net income

FIFO = highest EI – lowest COGS – highest NI

Decreasing Prices: LIFO = highest EI – lowest COGS, highest NI

FIFO = lowest EI – highest COGS – lowest NI
