    Hi All,

I am looking for some advise. I am about to take my FAR section next week (it's my first section and 1st attempt)

I studied for a while now and planing on finishing with all the material in becker (MCQ & Sims).

But my confidence level is very low (mostly because I didn't do so well through my graduate program). Is there anything you can recommend that I do in the upcoming week? to increase confidence level?

    FAR - 83
    Aud - 76

@jpowell is the answer d? i feel like its to obvious to be that answer?

i did 110,000 divided by 5 and got 22. then 22 multiplied by .60 and got 13.2 and then times the 30 cents (cost to them)

lollol D C very funny about the ma'am and sir thing..my sense of humor

pretty happy i got that one right but i know i need to go into it more.

also, just go a 73% on a progress test of 30 questions, thought i was doing way worse while actually taking it..felt like i was taking to long on each question =/

The ninja MCQs are taking forever to go thru, much longer than the becker progress test… mainly because with progress test you do the problem, pick an answer and move on.. vs. the NINJA mcq (1st its all internet based so loading the page/answer/moving to the next question is a time consuming process by itself), but mainly because they show you the answer plus explanations with each question as you go adds so much time to get thru it all.

I did a 75 MCQ in becker within 110 mins but a 50 mcq ninja question took more than 150 mins… time is precious. I'm not sure if I will use Ninja MCQs….

plus Becker has the time displayed per question and overall as your taking it helping you manage your time and i think this will help on the test as well. I'm getting a “feel” for the 1 min 30 second mark for when its time to pick an answer and move on….

right now i'm averaging between 72-79% on becker progress test with the 200 mcqs i have done in the past two days…

@DC – you can review all the ones you got wrong at the end if you want by just clicking on the percentage or question after you get your score on Ninja.

yep, that's right. sorry, i thought i left the answer there.

i'm only doing 15 question progress tests throughout the days to keep my brain fresh on items since i feel like i keep losing information the more i review other topics and i still do need to go back to topics – the theory is there and i did well on the questions at the time but i'm now getting lost between methods for various topics. hopefully a couple hours on each will drill it in.

i'm doing hedges & IFRS today, collecting notes together and writing some JE then hopefully going through a ton of marked questions until end of saturday – practice exam sunday. practice exams make me almost as nervous as the real thing.

one day i feel like i got this, and i got time. other days i'm like wait…wtf is THAT, i don't have time for this!! tick tock.

Can I do it as I go? Just pick answers and then see the answers/explanations at the end? I like this format cause I get more questions done and feel like i'm actually taking a test.

i'm doing a set of 50 now, and its moving much faster.. the loading speed issue must have been related to the firewall i was behind at work. Its significantly better at home.

I might be able to get use to it after all…

Yeah, so you can go through all the questions, and then at the end when you get your score you can click on each question and read the response, or you can just click on the ones you got wrong and read the response. But I'm not sure if you can go back on all sessions (like past 15 or 20) or if its just the past 5 sessions

@jpowell same here sometimes I'm like I GOT THIS others is like wtfff I'm never gonna be a CPA.

I'm taking my first review test friday or saturday the after monday i have off until test day so I'm hammering mcq until my eyes fall out.

I'm probably going to just stick with becker because everyone at work has passed FAR using it (one girl didn't even go into f10 WTF) and still got a 76 i think

i mean it really is a crapshoot..you get topics your good on then you should be solid but man if i get non monetary exchanges i think I'm going to punch the screen

@jpowell, remember fair value hedges go to I/S while cash flow hedges (effective) go to OCI, ineffective- I/S

Also, i posted this last night on here but when FV option is elected when otherwise equity method would be used to account for securities income is equal to portion of dividends and the appreciation of investment…something so easy to remember

    #599480

so if fv option the same as cost method?
