    Wiley / NINJA “Servergate” Giveaway!

The What: 20 Winners … 10 Wiley Single Section Software pins winners (retail value $105 each) / 10 NINJA Study Guide Single Section winners (retail value $67 each).

The When: Friday September 23, 2011

The How: Post in this thread the following …

    1. Your Score(s) from the July/August Window

    2. The study material(s) you used

    3. If you passed – a success tip to pass onto fellow candidates.

If you didn’t pass – something different you’re going to tweak the next time around.

Winners will be randomly chosen using a random # function in Excel and the corresponding post # in this thread will be the winner beginning with 10 Wiley winners and then 10 NINJA winners. For instance, if there are 100 posts, and I set the random cell generator between 1 and 100 and it picks cell 26, then the 26th post author will be chosen. I login per candidate only (and I can tell if you have more than one login) 😉

I took two sections in the July/ August Window. I took REG and got an 81 and took AUD with a 74. I used Becker to study for the exam, though my software license has since expired. I think the reason I passed REG and the reason I didn't pass AUD were the same – MCQ. I did a ton of multiple choices for REG and not enough for AUD. I pushed my AUD test date up to get the maximum bonus from my job for completing all sections within a year and sacrificed MCQ as a result. I've got FAR and BEC under my belt already with my FAR score expiring in January, so I've got to get this 75 and be done with this thing! Thansk for all the help.

    1. 87 FAR, 94 AUD

    2. Becker Self Study, Wiley online test bank, Ninja notes

    3. Pause after each chapter and rewrite the notes in your own words to make sure you really understand it. Sit and teach it to yourself. If you can teach it to someone else, that means you have a solid basis in the material. Then do the MCQ and write down why you got each question wrong and right to really nail down the details of the exam. Also, time management is key.

    FAR - 87 (7/14/11)
    AUD - 94 (8/31/11)
    REG - 92 (10/19/11)
    BEC - 88 (11/30/11)

I passed Audit on my third try 68, 62, 79

Passed Reg on my second 63, 81

    FAR 56, 62, 69, 70 (July 30th, 2011)

    BEC 54, 58, 65 (August 30th, 2011)

I took Becker life and online classes. My software license expired already, I think the reason I didn't pass FAR is because of the simulations. For BEC I don't know what to do, after the exam I was “sure” I have done a good job and just got a 65. Please help!!!!!!!!!!

    1. 75 AUD, ?? BEC

    2. For AUD I used Gleim's test bank, Becker book, and Ninja Notes. For BEC I used Becker and a little bit of Gleim's test bank.

    3. For Audit my tip would be to work as many multiple choice questions as possible. The questions in Audit can be very tricky and one word can change the meaning of what is being asked. Since I don't know how I did on BEC yet I can't give advice on that one other than nail the formulas down. If I don't pass that one I'll be going back to reassessing my study plan, working more weak areas and not focuses as much on the parts that I'm strong on. My all around advice is don't give up on yourself…this test isn't impossible. A year ago I wouldn't have thought I would be just waiting on one more score….it's not necessarily a test of only knowledge but a test to your perseverance. And as my dad says “the only easy day was yesterday”.

    REG-80, 77, 77
    BEC-67, 68, 71, 67, 71, 74, 71, 74, 72, 77
FAR- 72, 65,67, 53, 75 (truth be known the 53 was with 4 hours of studying)
    AUD-58, 62, 72, 74, 74, 75
took 5 years but I'm DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. FAR 67 & BEC 80

    2. FAR – Becker + found out about NINJA notes the day before exam (skimmed through them).

    BEC – Becker self-study + NINJA notes for review + cpareviewforfree.com

    3. I failed FAR because I didn't have a clear plan on how to study + was overwhelmed by amount of material + I am a master of procrastination + Mad Men (all four seasons) came out on Netflix streaming and I just couldn't resist. As a result, I didn't cover the last two chapters of Becker at all and didn't have time to review 🙁

Passed BEC because first of all, I was focused. I found this forum & NINJA notes + I made a study plan & more or less followed it + sent my husband to West Coast backpacking for 1.5 weeks (= no cell phones!!!) + unsubscribed from Netflix (partially as a protest for raising prices) + “put the highlighter down” (= made my own notes) + did tons of MCQ from Becker and cpareviewforfree.com + I rested the day before exam – just casually skimming through NINJA notes

    1. FAR 76

    3. Do as many MC questions as possible and RELAX on test day. Don't psyche yourself out and overanalyze questions!!

    Reg – 59 :o(

I mainly used Gleim, which I would advise against doing. I found another71 and did use the Ninja Guide, but I found it two weeks before my test. I will be using Wiley and the Ninja guides for Auditing when I take it in a few months. My study habits weren't great either, but the gleim book just kept putting me to sleep and it was information overload. I have started studying for Auditing, and the Ninja guide really helps to spell things out for me. I am lucky and had a great Auditing Teacher who had some great great notes, so I am using those as well.

Just be honest with yourself like I was and admit you need to study more!

    1. AUD-91 FAR-78

    2. Becker Live Courses and Final Review

    3. I think the live courses really helped me. It forced me to stay on track. I was committed to not get behind, I completed all of the homework before moving on to the next chapter. When you miss a question be sure you understand why you missed it. I studied all the time, like someone else on here said, EAT, SLEEP, WORK, STUDY!!

BEC 79 – Wiley and Ninja Notes

AUD 56 – Wiley and Ninja Notes (had very limited study time as I had to prepare for my first big client IRS audit. The irony!)

It seems to me that the best study tip is repitition, repitition, repitition!!!

    B - 76 (expires 4/30/12)
    A - 56, 82
    R - 65, 79
    F - 74, 72 (4/18 waiting)
