    Wiley / NINJA “Servergate” Giveaway!

The What: 20 Winners … 10 Wiley Single Section Software pins winners (retail value $105 each) / 10 NINJA Study Guide Single Section winners (retail value $67 each).

The When: Friday September 23, 2011

The How: Post in this thread the following …

    1. Your Score(s) from the July/August Window

    2. The study material(s) you used

    3. If you passed – a success tip to pass onto fellow candidates.

If you didn’t pass – something different you’re going to tweak the next time around.

Winners will be randomly chosen using a random # function in Excel and the corresponding post # in this thread will be the winner beginning with 10 Wiley winners and then 10 NINJA winners. For instance, if there are 100 posts, and I set the random cell generator between 1 and 100 and it picks cell 26, then the 26th post author will be chosen. I login per candidate only (and I can tell if you have more than one login) 😉

    1. AUD:90

    FAR:79 🙂

    2. Becker Self Study

    3. I loved Becker. My only problem is that it does not focus and emphasize controls nearly enough. You HAVE to know what controls the client should put in place & how the auditor should test said controls. This made a huge difference with the MC and especially the SIMS. With FAR, dont blow off Gov't and Non Profit Acct, there's more than you think.

    1. REG – 66

    2. Yaeger, Wiley + Jeff's notes

    3. What I did: Watched all videos, then assigned MC. Worked more MC from Wiley test bank. Any questions I missed, I wrote notes. Writing the notes, I believe, is how my score jumped more than 10+ points from previous exam (BEC).

What I'll do differently (for FAR): Work assigned MC after each module, instead of after watching all videos. I'm hoping this will enforce concepts. I will still work as many sets of MC questions after I watch videos, taking notes about concepts I miss. I'm also planning on taking notes while watching the videos. I ignored practicing sims so I plan on working those along the way too.

    1. REG (8/31/11) – still waiting on the score

    2. Becker

    3. Even though, I havent gotten any scores yet, barring a miracle – it does n't look too good! I have changed my study plan already now that I am studying for FAR. I have a little bit of ‘off time' before I start my work in public. I used to go to the library from morning to evening and call it a day. Now – I realized that's not enough. Now I only sleep for 4 hours- wake up at 2:30 bang out some videos or mcq's then go to library from morning to night… The sad part is I still think its not enough time for me to grasp all this. Another thing I do is turn off wifii completely while I am studying because I have found that Facebook and all the other sites are nothing but pure distraction. Im hoping to learn a lot more and I think this is one of the greatest posts ever – just gives me an opportunity to see different strategies that I could incorporate

    1. 82 – REG

    2. Roger CPA Review + Wiley MCQs

    3. Roger recommends supplementing his material with Wiley which definitely helps. I felt like a lot of the Wiley questions were harder than those in the actual exam. I would want to supplement the SIMS further with another type of material. You need to practice MCQ questions over and over! I make sure I go over the once I missed multiple times.

    1. 74 – AUD . this was my second try.

    2. Roger CPA + Wiley's Software

    3. I think I'm just naturally bad at auditing even going back to college classes. Rogers is great in my opinion. I wish I could have gone in time and changed one to two questions to get me that 75. anyways, I feel like I'm almost there and will continue my best. taking exam on october 5th

I will most likely try to use Becker's MCQ's and textbook to change material and see if I can pickup something new from the new material.

    1. FAR – 73

BEC – still waiting and praying

    2. Becker – Live class

    3. Well depending on score for BEC.

If BEC is a fail also (i really hope it is not) then repeat the Live Becker class in Dec and possibly add Wiley Test Bank

Then FAR Live Repeat with Wiley Test Bank

If just FAR to be redone – then will Becker Self Study and Wiley test Bank for the month of December and retest early January.

Then hope that AUD and REG will be a past this next window. Debating on add Wiley for REG I would really want to pass the first time.

    1. REG 86

    2. Becker, Wiley test bank & focus notes, NINJA, & Yaeger audio (I know, a little overboard)

    3. The more miserable you are while studying, the better you will be. Eat. Sleep. Work. Study.

    1. AUD 93

    2. Becker, Wiley test bank, Cpareviewforfree.com

    3. This was my third time taking AUD. I read the Becker book, made notes, watched the lecture, answered the questions. Once I finished the Becker book, I worked cpareviewforfree.com questions along with the Wiley test bank. 3 days before the test, I made flashcards on the things I was still getting confused on…. If it helps, I walked out of the test thinking either I failed, or I barely passed (around a 75). I had no idea I would do as well as I did 🙂

    BEC - 65 (4/10), 83 (8/10)
    AUD - 64 (10/10), 73 (2/11), 93 (8/11)
    REG - 47 (7/09), 80 (10/11)
    FAR - 84 (11/11) Texas. I'm done!!!

    3. I thought I bombed the REG sims. After getting my score report it turns out I actually bombed the multiple choice. I'm going to keep doing more and more multiple choice questions until I can destroy this thing!

    1. FAR – 66

    2. Becker Self Study & Wiley online

    3. The simulations always get to me. I lost all confidence half way through the simulations. My result shows that I mastered the MCQ and bombed the simulations. I'm going to practice as many simulations as possible and retake next testing window.

    1. REG 55

    2. Bisk MCQ & Becker note cards

    3. I totally bombed the simulations. I am taking AUD this testing window and plan to use my last two weeks on my schedule just to work simulations and MCQ's. I will repeat REG next testing window.
