    Wiley / NINJA “Servergate” Giveaway!

The What: 20 Winners … 10 Wiley Single Section Software pins winners (retail value $105 each) / 10 NINJA Study Guide Single Section winners (retail value $67 each).

The When: Friday September 23, 2011

The How: Post in this thread the following …

    1. Your Score(s) from the July/August Window

    2. The study material(s) you used

    3. If you passed – a success tip to pass onto fellow candidates.

If you didn’t pass – something different you’re going to tweak the next time around.

Winners will be randomly chosen using a random # function in Excel and the corresponding post # in this thread will be the winner beginning with 10 Wiley winners and then 10 NINJA winners. For instance, if there are 100 posts, and I set the random cell generator between 1 and 100 and it picks cell 26, then the 26th post author will be chosen. I login per candidate only (and I can tell if you have more than one login) 😉

    1. BEC – ??? (second wave)

    2. Gleim, NINJA, cpareviewforfree.com

    3. Work multiple choice questions over and over and over, study all things equally since you never know what will be on YOUR test – hopefully this will pay off

    1. Your Score(s) from the July/August Window

I took FAR on July 27th and got an 87.

    2. The study material(s) you used

    I used Becker (self-study).

    3. If you passed – a success tip to pass onto fellow candidates.

Put in the time to thoroughly understand areas that you only “kind of” get. Especially on FAR it seems like it's easy to think it's ok to have a passing understanding of topics because there are so many. You never know what the exam holds…if I hadn't gone through the text and drilled into the detail, I don't think I would have been so lucky come score release time.

    FAR 07/27/11 - 87
    AUD 10/01/11 - 85
    BEC 11/15/11 - 87
    REG 01/03/12 - 92

    1. AUD- 56, REG- 61

    2. Becker for AUD. Becker & Wiley for REG

    3. Do a few progress test. My biggest issue is forgetting everything i learned from section 1-3 of AUD and REG.

    1) BEC 87, FAR 86

    2) Used Becker and Wiley (for FAR only)

    3) My tip is to do all of the Becker homework problems TWICE, as well as the SIMS. Don't let the practice exams ruin your confidence, since I scored much lower for each of the ones I did for both BEC and FAR. As far as the exam itself, I allowed extra time for the SIMS in FAR than Becker recommends (1:30 minimum, while Becker recommends only 1:15). With BEC, 45 minutes for the written communications should be plenty of time.

    BEC: 87 (7/13/11)
    FAR: 86 (8/31/11)
    AUD: 99 (10/6/11)
    REG: 88 (11/30/11)
    Ethics: 100
    (Illinois)

Used Becker for all four parts. Supplemented it with Wiley Test Bank for FAR and REG (HIGHLY recommended) and NINJA notes.

This window I passed Aud 77

Used becker and Wiley test bank

My first passing score ever, previously failed with 74

For me, I was fortunated to pass. I just watched all lectures again and keep doing Wiley questions as supplementary

I m still waiting for bec score and so there's not much for me to share other than keep doing questions again and again

    Keep trying and pray

Hey Jeff, can you throw those of us in North Carolina a bone here???? Everyone forgets about us…. It will still be likely another couple weeks before we receive our scores… only BEC has been mailed so far. Love the site though, keep doing what you do!

Anyway, to throw my two cents in here… I have passed Audit (97) and BEC (80) and took REG and FAR this past testing window. I used Becker, Wiley, Gleim (book and test prep cd), and CPA Excel all 2011 editions. I was the campus rep for Becker and CPA Excel at different points in time at my university and Gleim and Wiley are both inexpensive and great resources so I was able to supplement my other two lecture/online review courses with these. The trick for me was doing as many MC questions as possible. I also kept a notebook of basically every question I ever came across. Why I got it right or why I got it wrong.

Hopefully I will be done with this exam… the waiting is driving me insane.

    AUD 70

I used Gleim books, MCQ bank & online simulations

I am going to develop a study plan and stick to it. Wake up an hour early and study, study at work during lunch and study at night. Also by doing lots of MCQs.

    1. AUD – 79

    2. Used nothing but cpareviewforfree.com

    3. Do tons of multiple choice questions. Start slow and read and understand the answers (and any explanation given once you answer), then after going through everything a few times, do lots of questions in a simulated test environment (i.e. move quickly and keep on pace). Be sure to take note of problem/weak areas and hit them hard. Test-day is huge, too– make sure your rested, relaxed, confident, and focused. Put the pressure behind and think clearly.

    Good luck to everyone!

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 88
    REG - 87
    FAR - 86 - Woot, all done!
    Ethics - 100

    Passed BEC with an 80

    Used strictly Wiley

Knock out as much multiple choice questions as you can and make sure you KNOW the material as opposed to memorizing the concepts. Make sure you can answer the question if it is simply worded differently. Good luck.

    BEC- 80
    REG- 68, 71, July
    AUD- 61 , 84
    FAR- -- 75 🙂

    1. Score: REG 74

    2. Used Wiley Exam Review, Wiley test bank, Gleim

    3. My score notice noted that I was weaker in the sims and as such I will be practicing more sims, and I will be

doing MCQs non-stop. My credit for AUD expires the end of Nov.Therefore, I NEED to pass REG and BEC.

Really hoping I get selected for the Wiley BEC software *fingers crossed* 😉

    1. FAR 80

    2. Wiley and my old textbooks

    3. I think that the Wiley books are a great resource, but they have tons of information…probably too much. I spent a lot of time studying for this test, more than most I think, and I think my time could have been better spent using an actual review course. I didn't spend a whole lot of time practicing simulations. I think that it is wiser to work a lot of MCQs. Take the time to really understand why you got a question wrong. The MCQs give you the knowledge needed to do the sims. Also, don't be lax with journal entries. I focused more on conceptual stuff and methods through most of my studying until the week of my test, and could have been a little more prepared in that area. Also, try not to take the exam the same week as an earthquake, hurricane, and tornados…they can be rather distracting.

    FAR - 80
    REG - 82
    AUD - 92
    BEC - 81
