    Wiley / NINJA “Servergate” Giveaway!

The What: 20 Winners … 10 Wiley Single Section Software pins winners (retail value $105 each) / 10 NINJA Study Guide Single Section winners (retail value $67 each).

The When: Friday September 23, 2011

The How: Post in this thread the following …

    1. Your Score(s) from the July/August Window

    2. The study material(s) you used

    3. If you passed – a success tip to pass onto fellow candidates.

If you didn’t pass – something different you’re going to tweak the next time around.

Winners will be randomly chosen using a random # function in Excel and the corresponding post # in this thread will be the winner beginning with 10 Wiley winners and then 10 NINJA winners. For instance, if there are 100 posts, and I set the random cell generator between 1 and 100 and it picks cell 26, then the 26th post author will be chosen. I login per candidate only (and I can tell if you have more than one login) 😉

    1. I passed REG with a 90!

    2. I used only Becker (online classes) and did every mcq (most of them twice).

    3. I know my score looks good, but I don't really think I had the best method of study. I'm planning to mix in wiley next time for AUD. The main thing I would do differently would be to review the sections I've covered as I go over new material. The parts I was least prepared for were those I covered first. So if you use Becker, use the progress test to mix in review mcq's with new material.

    REG: 90, 8/27/11
    AUD: 91, 11/30/11
    BEC: 92, 10/6/12
    FAR: 91,11/3/12 DONE!!! PTL!!!

    1. AUD – July – 75; REG – August – 74

    2. Becker for both

    3. AUD: MCQs + Know the differences between the opinions (a chart makes this simpler than it sounds)

REG: I will give myself more time to get through the study materials, and use an additional study program. Becker instructor had actually de-emphasized two topics that I ended up getting as Sims. I can't complain though – they got me through the other 3 sections with no problems (cut it close on Audit, or should I say “efficient”).

    1.) AUD – 80 FAR – still waiting

    2.) Becker online

3.) When I began studying this time around, my study habbits were a bit lacking. I have been out of school for over nine years now. I had taken the two day exam back when it was the old pen/paper exam, but didn't pass any section. After that, life got in the way, but I figured it was time to get in gear and get this done.

I took FAR first but I didn't get all the way through the lectures and MCQs in a timely manner. Then I rushed though them just to be able to get the Becker Promise. My thoughts are that I did not pass that section. For AUD, I went through all of the lectures, read all of the material, completed all of the MCQs and took a few notes on flashcards. My feeling after taking the auditing section was that I would be either borderline passing or borderline failing. I was in complete shock when I saw the email stating that I passed with an 80. Now it's on to REG for me.

    AUD - 80
    FAR - 73, 76 done!!!
    REG - 92
    BEC - 79

    1. FAR 58

    2. I used Yaeger home study/Wiley onlIne test bank and Yaegar FAR DVD.

    3. I have already bought the NINJA study guides for FAR and AUD. Hope to manage my time better and focus on MC. I followed YAEGAR pretty closely on their recOmmendations but I guess it wasn't enough.

    1) FAR – 81

    2) Becker Self Study

    3) I just want to emphasize understanding what you are doing. It becomes easy to go on auto pilot mode especially if there are multiple similar questions in your review material. You end up getting them right during review because they are all so similar to each other, then you get to the test and they are asking the same basic concepts but with a twist here and there. It almost threw me off on FAR. So my tip is don't just do questions to say you did x number of questions. Do them right, understand why you miss the ones you do and get them right on your second try. (or third sometimes, or fourth…) Anyway, I don't post here a lot, but wanted to thank everyone for the encouragement. Reading these boards has helped more than I thought it ever could!!

    1. FAR- 72 it’s my last section so hopefully it will be a bit higher next time around!

    2. Becker Self Study and Becker Flashcards

    3. I am going to put in just as much time as I did last time but focus on different topics like government and IFRS since I did not learn those in school. I focused too much time on the topics I knew and not enough on the topics I never learned.

    1. Far-85 Aud 90

    2. Soley Becker

    3. Study at night when there isn't any one up/ tv shows suck/ and there arent as many distractions.

We all have different commitments somethings got to give. Volunteer? drop it….exercise?… minimize it…..We can do these things later not when studying for this test!

    1. BEC-79, REG-69

    2. Ninja notes and Wiley test bank for BEC, Gleim for REG

    3. Keep a study schedule. I do not recommend taking 2 sections in one test window, but do what is best for yourself. Writing notes and rewriting notes really worked for me with BEC along with tons of multiple choice questions. MCQs and more MCQs!

    FAR 78

    Becker Self Study

Rewrite your notes that you take, Helped me to really learn the material rather than just reading through my notes and do as many multiple choice questions as you can.

    BEC 11/29/10 75
    AUD 01/31/11 68 10/7/11 83
    REG 05/20/11 85
    FAR 08/04/11 78

    1) FAR – 94

    2) Becker Materials

    3) Having passed two easily (BEC 89) and failing REG (70) the clear difference in my efforts was taking the time go through the material from different angles. With BEC and FAR, I not only watched the chapters and worked the problems, but I also read through the book. Often you absorb information differently when reading rather than watching a lecture. Give yourself the chance to learn to your strength. Not everyone retains information the same way. Find your way.

Interesting note I picked up last session. 92% of those who qualify (and send in their paperwork) for the Becker promise….pass and don't need the promise. Do the work…you will pass.

    1. 72 – FAR

    2. Becker Lectures and Wiley Online Test Bank

    3. Beef up my knowledge of IFRS and Government (And if I win, use Jeff's Ninja notes on FAR to pass this time. LOL)

    FAR – 87, AUD – 72

used Becker online, but used the DVDs because of my internet speed

Passing tips: do as many of the MCQs as you can and take as many simulated exams as possible. stick to your study schedule and take one night off

I plan to better understand my weak areas of AUD. Aside from some heavy personal stuff during my last two weeks before the exam, my weak areas were my downfall
