Becker CPA Review Mock Exam Score vs Actual CPA Exam Score

I figured since so many people ask, it’d be easier to have it all in one thread for reference. Good idea?

Calculating this by taking the average MCQ*60% and average sim*40%

What I've learned so far; don't cut corners. Focus on the concepts, not the individual answers or scores. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Take notes, ESPECIALLY when you don't understand a concept. Then you have it in writing to come back and review/reinforce later. I also put together a master formula sheet to review after I finished the material and was in the midst of practice tests and exams. Good luck guys!

@jex after you took the actual REG test did you feel it went ok? did you feel like the test wasn't too hard still challenging of course but that you did okay that maybe at least you pulled off a 75? or was your 89 a surprise?

@KeepPushing, I walked out of the exam not feeling great, but okay. I felt like the MCQ questions on the exam were fair, but I thought the SIMs were challenging. I was not really sure what to expect, was just hoping for a pass. Two of my SIMs asked specific details on topics that I did not learn from Becker, but I was able to make some educated guesses and used the authoritative literature. Without going into too much detail, one of the sims was on individual taxation (which was covered in becker) but asked how really specific situations would affect the tax return. These specific items were not really discussed. Somewhere on the REG study group page, I have a more detailed overall test day experience post.

@jex thank you very very much. I read over your other posts. We may have had similar experiences! I asked because I got around a 70 on one of my Becker mocks and on the actual exam, as you stated, I thought was fair also on MCQ. I didn't feel horrible or great about it either but thought that my efforts were at least fair on most, and for some, I based answers on educated guesses based on what I remembered studying instead of complete guesses, which i did on my first FAR attempt and as you can see it didn't work out. I won't find out the score until the next release day but I am praying to God I have passed. I hope that since we had similar experiences that the outcome for me is passing too! thanks!

    Yes, just Becker.

I took the mock exams one a day starting three days before the exam. After each I focused on the two or three weakest sections. I found the MCQs the most helpful.

I didn't care much for the laminated paper and markers on exam day. A little better than hammer/chisel, but not much.
